Funny books 16:26 - Feb 25 with 4992 views | BrixtonBlue | I was just thinking to myself that the funniest book I've ever read is Yes Man by Danny Wallace... then I realised I haven't actually read that many funny books. Anyone got any recommendations?

| Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing. | Poll: | Raining in IP8 - shall I get the washing in? |

Funny books on 16:30 - Feb 25 with 4118 views | itfcjoe | I recently read 'This is going to hurt' by Adam Kay it's memoirs of a Junior Doctor, you'd like it as is framed around how the NHS is massively under resourced - but it is very, very funny and well writted The only thing I'd say is that I may have got a bit more of it as is about a gynaecologist and I'd recently been through bits of it having just had children which may have made it funnier

Agreed. That's that. Moving onto the runners-up, the ones that spring to mind are: Alexei Sayles' Barcelona Plates and Barcelona Chairs (short story anthologies) are also very good. And surprised none of them have been made into films or even as some Black Mirror/Inside No.9 series. John O'Farrell is also very good - This is your life but also his short story about a mime artist Walking into the wind is utterly fantastic. PJ O'Rourke's Age and Guile Beat Youth, Innocence, and a Bad Haircut is excellent as is almost everything by Jon Ronson (who's always amusing and self-deprecating rather than laugh out loud funny).

PL’s autobiography is out there and was actually ghosted by a guy called Graham Clark, who worked for ITFC in the lates 70s. Probably sold out thanks to his many fans on TWTD.

John Kennedy Toole you mean. It's a great book but does it really hold? Things like the Levi's Pants letter are brilliant but little too real and depressing. It's a better book when you know the author's own story but it becomes less funny too.

Funny books on 18:45 - Feb 25 with 3791 views | hampstead_blue | Spike Milligan - The Murphy. I can't help but cry when I read it. I tried to read it during boring MSc lectures but was busted when I started laughing in the middle of math lectures!
| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

They are brilliant, from memory there is a couple of them. In my mind I'm pretty sure I've also listened to some audio timewaster phone calls but I can't find them on Coopers website.

You've actually picked out one of my favourites there! 'I had a piece of halibut last night - it was bloomin' lovely.' Obviously it depends on the recipient but some made me literally LOL. 'I eat Waspard straight from the jar' was one. There is a second, and I believe you're right- think they're on YouTube. Although prank calls make me cringe a bit, poor beggars.
