KVY's injury 11:35 - Sep 11 with 2440 viewsChrisd

It's a concern the amount time he's spent on the treatment table than actually playing for us. Does anyone know any inside info about the length time he'll be out for?

It's definitely a big concern, both him and Norwood had operations months and months ago and would have presumed they'd be back fit by now.

KVY played a couple of games and has now missed 4 or 5 in a row, which suggest a big setback

It's just the same thing time and again with players — either our recruitment or, more likely, our medical/sports science department aren't fit for purpose.

The way it's been talked about by Lambert etc is pretty worrying. If our past is anything to go by, we'll not hear anything till about November when he'll see a specialist and they'll announce he needs an operation, but should be back in February. Minor set back in training reported around mid-March, but then he'll make it onto the bench for the last two games of the season to great acclaim, like a new signing etc.

Did you see the Adam Webster article in The Athletic?

https://theathletic.co.uk/2010406/2020/08/24/adam-webster-brighton-bristol-city-

“We liked him for a long time – he’d had a bit of an indifferent year in terms of injuries and we’d heard it maybe wasn’t the best (at Ipswich) then in terms of sports science,” Johnson tells The Athletic.

“We felt to go with his ability he had some physical gains and, with a fresh pre-season, we really thought he was worth the purchase.

I think this absolutely sums it up to be honest. I believe we're being sued still for poor treatment of injuries, and we have had so many injured players for such a period of time there has to be something going very wrong. The amount of money we have wasted on unfit players must be astronomical and if wed have spent some of that on our sports science we may be in a very different position.
We also had people on this board hammering Norwood for being unprofessional a couple of weeks ago because he wasn't fit they've both had the same injury and been out considerably longer than expected.

Wasn’t the sports science something Hurst was scathing about, ME also mentioned changes to our set up too, didn’t he? Were any changes made?

Have any of the local media pack ever brought this up with Lee O’Neill or Lambert? Something is rotten at the club. These continued, never-healing injuries can’t all be down to bad luck.

If we’re going to operate on a shoestring budget I guess this is what happens.

Hurst brought in Nathan Winder who was very highly regarded for sports science. He left with Hurst as is now first team lead sports scientist at Sheffield United

Especially when players like McGoldrick and Webster leave and miraculously end up injury free.

I think it's also the culture at the club. Most people on here have played competitive football: when you're in a team that's doing well, or you've got a big cup game, it's amazing how many players are available for selection; playing rubbish and suddenly everyone's got a knock or got to go to that meal around the in-laws'. Notice how McGoldrick's knocks and niggles miraculously disappeared as soon as he went to an ambitious, upwardly mobile team. I get it with serious injuries, but too many players are missing games with knocks, niggles, tweaks and strains when - if they really wanted to - they could be playing through them...

And therein lies the problem.

You can't make cut after cut and not at some point see that adverse impact of those decisions play through. Such austerity is felt across the board, whether that be the service in the ticket office, cleanliness of the North stand roof or the medical attention and support provided to the players. It's all very short sighted.

I'm sorry but I don't buy that at all. By and large footballers want to play football, not be sat in the stand. Even purely from a selfish perspective, if you want out you want to put yourself in the shop window with good performances and force a move. It benefits no players 'brand' equity to be sat in treatment rooms.

I have to agree but quite bizarrely my eldest Son who lives in Nottingham lives close by and is good friends with one of the lads from Accrington who told him that if they don't fancy playing , its just that "oh I've got a sore calf" etc . Supposed to be happening a lot more than we imagine . Not saying it's the case at Town but....

I've no reason not to believe the conversation either that my lad has had

Got me thinking about KVY.

If Chambo is playing well at RB, could KVY stake a place in the team as a wide player further forward?

For several years there was a plague of serious knee injuries. There has recently been a series of groin injuries. It may be my imagination, but a lot of injuries seem to occur in training rather than during games. Overall, there are too many indications of systemic problems for the injury situation to be dismissed as 'bad luck'.

Weren't his injuries at least partially attributed to the time he spent sitting in his car during his commute to/from Nottingham every day?

How about we stop wasting money on such a large bloated squad and instead of paying Wilson £2k a week or Nolan £5k a week we sack them off and invest some money in the sports science and medical department?
