Now to build on it and keep the same formation, get players fit and we should be top six at least.

Couldn't ask for much more, obviously would have been great if we had dominated but it's a win at home with a clean sheet.

Onwards and upwards.

Good to get 3 points but was a pretty lacklustre performance, plenty of room for improvement. Really do need some pace in that team.

Specifically?

I was pleased with how we played but it was far from a comfortable win.

Pleased with performances from Nolan, Edwards when he came on and Bishop. A mixed bag from most of the rest.

The front 3 link up. We didn't create enough

Also some defensive issues

Plus top 6 is enough if we win the play-offs but we really have got to aim for top two.

Happy to be wrong, but we looked like nothing more than mid-table fodder. Very uninspiring against a really poor team - apart from Dozzell and Bishop, and a few decent moments from Drinan and Sears in the first half.

It was good enough, and worth remembering Wigan aren't Bolton so it'll probably end up looking like a useful win.

Worried about the midfield though. Plenty of football in it and we did see that at times. But without Downes or Skuse it's far too easily cut through with a pass or two and susceptible in the duels. Need that situation sorted out because we will end up under too much pressure against the better sides.

Really hard to judge us currently til we know what we have after the window shuts. We need players fit and we need pace in the side. The team out there today looked like one that could challenge for the top six but we need more.

Allways looking for the perfect performance but a win is a win bearing in mind no team has had much of a preseason this year. Wasn't expecting Peterboro to lose yesterday.

I thought we did create enough and that may have contributed to the amount of opposition chances. That, to me, is different from the back end of last season. I agree the defence could improve. We need Woolfenden playing.

Uninspiring but needed to get off to a winning start.

Both goals from a defensive point of view were shockers, but that spell in the first half when Bishop and Dozzell in particular saw a lot of the ball was promising - need to find a way to keep them involved as we look very pedestrian and slightly uncomfortable when they're not.

We need to sort out the issue with Downes and either force Palace into making a reasonable offer or tell his agent to fck off and put him in the team, could really do with his energy. Hopefully Woolfenden and Lankester are back for next weekend as the team will look a bit better with them in there.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Quite reminiscent of early last season where we've won comfortably enough but without looking brilliant. Thought we played some nice stuff end of the first half but for most of the game it was a bit disjointed and lacklustre. Not sure about Judge as a wide forward, he's pretty one dimensional in that role and I'd like someone u9 there that offers more of an outlet and more threat in behind. Norwood was well off the pace and I'd be very tempted to stick with Drinan for now. He's got a decent touch and links the play well and he got himself into a couple of goal scoring positions too.

We ought to have scored 4. Wigan had nothing on target.

They should have scored at least two due to slack marking on our part plus also hit the bar... was it once or twice?

But like.. that’s just bollox isn’t it? Admit it, you’re talking absolute tripe for the sake of exaggeration.

It was clearly better than last season. It just was.

Several people have made similar comments, funny you only complain about me.

Must be tough for you with us winning, a clean sheet, several of our best players out and no shots on target for the opposition. I feel for you.

For the most part, yes, though I'd argue we played better in our first home game last season (v Sunderland).

The trick is to build from this rather than go backwards.

Better than most of our post-November performances. Quite similar to our early season performances where we've managed to win without playing all that well. A few promising signs at times but we weren't great.
