Vaccination rates slowing down 20:32 - Feb 20 with 3079 views | Trequartista | https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/vaccinations Only 371k first doses yesterday compared to 544k on the same day last week, and figures have been lower all week. A few more second doses but only 15k. Anyone know why? Surely they aren't taking it steady after reaching the first milestone - needs to be full pelt 24/7. I was under the impression that the rollout would be expanding, not contracting. [Post edited 20 Feb 2021 20:33]

Vaccination rates slowing down on 20:36 - Feb 20 with 3009 views | WD19 | The speed is dependent on supply, so presumably this is constrained a little. .....and/or there is an element of inefficiency in trying to mop up the dregs of the key groups who are harder to reach/less keen.

Had crossed my mind, but haven't seen any stories to say there are shortages anywhere.

Vaccination rates slowing down on 20:47 - Feb 20 with 2912 views | xrayspecs | Supply NHS has capacity to vaccinate far more folk than even our highest daily total. As fast as the stock is released and tested (this takes quite a lot of time), then it is shipped to the NHS to jab.

Data now that Pfizer can be stored in regular freezers so that’s a big plus logistically. We’re in for 2.2M of the J&J jab and assuming that’s approved in a matter of weeks, that is huge for us as it’s a one jab job. I imagine they’re all working their socks off to get a top up jab to nail the Brazilian and SA variants. [Post edited 20 Feb 2021 20:51]

Good news is they still predict all Groups 1-4 will have both doses by end of April, even with disruption to supply. All groups 5-9 by end of June.

Vaccination rates slowing down on 21:11 - Feb 20 with 2728 views | Ace_High1 | I had a concern this would happen after the target was hit. We need to be ramping up, need to hit 1m a day and get it done as quickly as possible, money no object.

I haven’t. I have vax-envy!!! On a serious note, I think the drop off in vaccinations is almost certainly due to supply issues. Producing this stuff appears difficult (our resident experts will know far better than me) and it seems it’s something planned in. They have to ramp up 2nd doses in addition to continuing the programme to get all over 50s vaccinated by end of April. It’s some target. However, they have the distribution capacity sorted along with the means of delivery and supplies will improve. The effort so far from all concerned has been amazing. Well done all! It’s been said but still amazes me that even yesterday with disappointing stats, more people were vaccinated (including the misses) in a day than soldiers were saved from Dunkirk in May/June 1940. By the end of today yet again over 2m people (3% of the population) in a week. [Post edited 21 Feb 2021 8:07]

Had the invite yesterday evening. Was really surprised as only turned 60 a few months back and was anticipating having the 1st one later next month or into April. To also be able to book the 2nd jab for May is a bonus too.
