Thank you for that CM - what a wonderful eleven minutes or so. I saw Ed at Ipswich Music day many years ago and at Chantry Park recently - we genuinely do have one of our own and a genuine football supporter rather than a 'plastic one' like so many so called stars.

One of, if not the best singer song writers of the modern era for me. So nice to have a sponsor which is close to the club and not a betting firm or a vain owner.
Good stuff. Love the way he talks passionately like a normal fan. It actually led me to listen to one of his songs, which I've never knowingly done before. I'm not rushing out to buy any albums but I thought this was quite good...

Does he?
There does seem to be a lot of sneering about imaginary sneering that's for sure.
I have to admit I've looked down on him without actually listening to any of his music. I certainly think there's a perception that he's massively popular with a certain demographic and is therefore naff.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

He's a great and talented performer but to say he is the best singer songwriter of the modern era is hyperbolic drivel. He is very influential in creating music for the masses. Nothing wrong with that, I'm not sneering at it but to suggest he is the best singer songwriter of the modern era is frankly laughable

I would highly recommend downloading a handful of his songs.
Especially his work with Andre Bochelli. Cant quite put my finger on the song name as I type this but it was beautiful.

I said one of if not the best. It's all personal taste and opinion.

It gets a bit much when the constant insinuations are that these things are rife on here though. Which has been repeated now several times. Most couldn't care lass because we're too old or just not that way inclined in taste.
Speaking for myself I have just generally accepted that I'm not his demographic and as such have shown no interest.
The only time I think I've criticised anything he's done - I think I would only recognise the one tbh _ was the first time I heard Shape of You on the radio and I assumed it was a Justin Bieber type act and that it sounded rather slimy and creepy.
I can name one JB song because when I was taxiing I had to take some kids to school for a while on a contract and they kept bloody well playing the same track over and again in my car.
I then realised how my dad must have felt when I insisted on Adam and the Ants when in his car, on repeat.

Surely it’s all about opinion. People always drop to their knees when Bob Dylan is mentioned, but I always found his stuff awful. I saw Sheeran saw play without knowing who he was in 2012 and while that genre of music isn’t really for me, it was clear he was very good.
Sheeran deserves all the plaudits he gets. I actually don’t think he creates music for the masses. I just think he creates music and the masses like it. There is a difference.
Personally, I much prefer him as a shirt sponsor than a seedy betting company. It’s about time betting companies were banned from advertising anyway.

I think I have fallen in love with him - although not his music.
Great minds and all that .................... I just listened to Castle on the Hill on Youtube and was fairly convinced that although I don't knowingly know the track I would recognise it when I heard it, but no, never heard it before and definitely not my cup of tea.
Having said that, Ed seems a cool guy, I hope to bump in to him some away game when I am absolutely tw4tted.

He was an underground indie kid once...
He really wasn't, I gigged with him a few times back in the day and remember remarking that I didn't know what all the fuss was about, if I recall I said "he's a young, ginger Craig David". "You Need Me.." was as edgy as it got (great tune though!) All subjective I know, and he definitely has a talent for writing a catchy hit plus is a really lovely chap but it's still generic pop. Mccartney III is way more interesting as an example of what a singer songwriter can do and he's nearly 80!
