Should we read anything into Wes Burns comments about players he already knows at the club?

In his interview, he name checked Skuse and Wilson before adding that they had left the club. He then said he also knows Edwards and Norwood. As Edwards is out of contract, he could have added him to Wilson and Skuse as former Town players, but did not.

Has Edwards indicated that he will sign a new deal at Town?

I think we might keep him due to the pace and workrate. By all things considered he was pretty shocking with the majority of his play last season though and Bluefish was right for the most part.

Burns on the Right and Edwards on the left wouldn't be the worst thing in this League.

He is out of contract but it seems we have offered him a new deal. Edwards frustrates me, he has ability but is too inconsistent, I think we could do better. The Crewe left sided midfielder caught my eye last season as did Curtis at Pompey albeit he is interesting Championship clubs.

I don't massively rate Edwards, at all really, but I could see why PC might chose to keep him on

The thing that gets me is that Ashton and Cook have said we want players who want to be here - Edwards was offered a contract weeks ago, time to take the contract off the table and say good luck with your future endeavours

Agree completely...has been very sporadic for us but can play either wing and decent competition for a place might bring out the best in him...he is undoubtedly talented and maybe PC can drill some consistency into him

Just because he hasn't instantly signed a new deal doesn't mean he doesn't want to stay.

There maybe something in the new contract he doesn't like and he has to consider if it's worth that sacrifice to stay or his agent maybe trying to wrangle terms that fit him and his family better.

He may much rather stay than have the upheaval of moving to a new club. Who knows, all will become apparent soon i guess!

It could go one of two ways (obviously!!) with Edwards if he stays. He could improve with a better group of players around him, or he’ll be shown up as mediocre compared to the new improved team. If it’s the latter he won’t play much and will soon leave.

My guess is that he’ll improve and be a decent player.

One thing Edwards was very good at was creating space for the overlap with Kenlock/Ward

So if he does play, imagine we have a KVY on that left side with him..

So what you are saying here is, the one thing he was good at, was running.

I think I know someone that may agree with you on this one.

I'd say his positional awareness is at a higher level than some, you saw this when he was subbed that the likes of Harrop, Bennetts etc just did't do it, he knows how to create the right spaces, doubles up at the back when needed too.

IF we can get him back to the fitness he had when first joined, we may see him take on players again when attacking and getting shots off, and scoring again.

Probably not. Doubt he's been given a list of people that are here, but on their way out. So probably just speaking on what he sees now.
