I think the club have got it very wrong here…. They’ve been on a (pleasing) project to pull the Ipswich ‘family’ together and have been doing a pretty good job, I have to say, so well done ITFC.
However… voting on a small selection of tracks which are mostly ‘borrowed’ from other teams just doesn’t feel right to me. Never has.
There is plenty of local talent worthy of such slots - some with strong Ipswich links.
So why not have our greatest punky band on the list? It’s true that there are Sunderland links with a couple of original members but everything else about THE ADICTS is Ipswich! Ipswich! Ipswich!
Also, perhaps our most famous pre-Ed supporter was the sadly passed Chester Bennington, so why not a LINKIN PARK song…?
Also Duncan from SNUFF - a band who are football mad anyway.
CRADLE OF FILTH anyone????
And how about JAH WARRIORS who were so close to becoming massive????
Just a few off the top of my head who have a true connection to Ipswich and have ample tracks suitable for a stadium environment…
I think you're over-egging this on a number of levels. Songs that get adopted by crowds tend to have existed for years anyway and are invariably somewhat naff.... sweet caroline being a case in point.
Add in the wide age range of the crowd - I'm guessing 90%, like me havent heard of most of your suggestions - and they too become no-goers. Nelly the Elephant stands more chance - or Crazee Horses.
Personally I'd dig a bit deeper - there is a rich musical tradition in Suffolk that exists outside pop and rock downloads. Maybe Peter Grymes isn't too catchy and and I'm not sure The Broadside Boys have enything in their repertoire - but who knows what else exists in the realm of classical music or even folk music... Nessun Dorma was uplifting for a while.
And that's before we start looking at SuFFolk residents from the Rolling Stones, King Crimson and other bands that were big when Town were.

I'd vote for Crazy Horses

I really don’t think it’s that deep.
Think the songs at least have to be recognisable to most.
Not everyone is always gonna be happy so just got to go with it.
You can suggest other songs on the vote.
agree. Just think club need to select a song that will be synonymous with us (should be an Ed song ala Citeh and Oasis etc) then the rest can be whatever. JUST SOMETHING UNIQUE!!

Perhaps, in good time for 2022/23 season, the club could run a competition and seek original compositions from local talent. Ed would of course be eligible to enter.
It's a fairly quiet response on here, doens't seem widely appreciated and football identity, branding etc, is hugely important to fans.
I don't like the fact that we're playing stuff other teams have.
I absolultey love the Kop singing YNWA or the Hammers and their bubbles, and we should absolutely adopt something unique.
I'm not a massive Sheeran fan, but to ignore his input is a mistake, there's a good reason he's where he is and to appeal to the new fans is probably more important than us oldies.
Ed Sheeran's "Thinking out loud" ....imagine us all singing the opening line to that for 'that' Douglas appearance lol!

I've been the PA guy at AFC Telford for 11 seasons now, and we've tried similar with our fanbase, albeit much smaller (1000-1500 attend regularly and we can get up to 5000 for a 'big' game). Every time we do it, a small group of supporters put forward a really useful set of suggestions which I'll incorporate into the main matchday playlist, but a lot of people just don't mind.
The run-out music has always been the domain of the team and the manager - over the years I've used tracks by Embrace, Richard Ashcroft and Prodigy, but we've settled on the rather obvious choice of Right Here Right Now for the last three years. As long as people hear the intro to the track they know at the right moment so they can get on their feet and start making some noise, it's fine.
Goal music - what's that? We tried that once or twice and I got so much grief we stopped again.
One thing that everyone agrees on is the end of game track. When we reformed we used Freiheit - Keeping The Dream Alive. Very meaningful to us but after a while it became a bit of a running joke when away fans would query why we were playing a Christmas song in August. So 6 years ago we reverted to Fathers' Angels - Bok To Bach, a quality slab of NS which accompanied the old club through its giant killing and FA Trophy exploits in the 80s and 90s. If I were to change that now, there would be a public lynching in the bar afterwards!
So I can understand why the club are doing this but from my experience I think they'll find that most people will be perfectly happy no matter what they play.

Braintree is quite local, so I'd like to suggest Firestarter and outta space. Didn't Lee Perry live in Ipswich for a while? Makes outta space double local

I would be up for that especially with LP’s short time in the town
