Mattress recommendations anyone? 18:41 - Feb 4 with 19756 views | BrixtonBlue | Could anyone recommend a mattress brand? I'm moving in with my girlfriend but we need a new mattress and haven't got a clue about them. We've got a budget of around £600. Any you'd recommend (or recommend steer clear of?)

Pocket sprung (the higher the number the better) is my preference from any of the big names (Hypnos, Silentnight, Sealey etc) with added lambs wool layer for extra warmth in the winter but breathes well in the summer.

I would recommend it to anyone but realise it very much down to taste. They do a 100 day return also if you don’t like it. They threw in 2 pillows, mattress protector and a duvet also as part of the deal.

| Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Mattress recommendations anyone? on 19:27 - Feb 4 with 10457 views | Guthrum | Not Silentnight. Bought one and within 18 months the springs had partly collapsed. Refused to replace, give a refund or acknowlege any responsibility. Was, surprisingly, only one sided, couldn't even turn it over. Not vastly cheap, either, about £250 (on offer).

They have sales in the showroom and it's south of the river so you will feel at home. Memory foam is the devil's work. 100% landfill and evil.

It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Almost no mattresses can be or are recycled. So whilst this is worthy advice, it doesn't really count as far as mattresses are concerned. To elaborate - there are only a very small number of facilities that will recycle mattresses of any kind. The only material of value is the metal and it is expensive to dismantle the mattresses to get at it, so barely any recycling company bothers. There has been pressure on the mattress producers to put funding into the recycling of the product they put on the market, but nothing has happened yet. [Post edited 4 Feb 2020 19:51]

Mattress recommendations anyone? on 19:58 - Feb 4 with 10329 views | NewcyBlue | MrsN decided we needed a new mattress. 4 months later my back was in bits after sleeping on it for a couple of weeks when I got home. Massive dent in it. It was a hybrid. We ended up with a pocket spring mattress with memory foam on top and it’s terrific. Get a 6 month swap on it so if you do have problems you can swap it out.

The only thing to watch with Ikea is the sizes - European ones differ from UK standard.

Good good we've left then. Finally, a good reason after all this time. We get our mattresses back!

Depressingly, UK standard sizes are smaller than European ones.
