More goals for Pig and Chaplin last night 10:38 - Oct 6 with 2963 views | chicoazul | Surely now there’s a good chance one or both will start Saturday? It’s be harsh on whoever makes way but we are very reliant on Bonne for goals and it’d good to get some more threat up there. Pig gives you a bit more defensive stability from dead balls too.

More goals for Pig and Chaplin last night on 10:43 - Oct 6 with 2074 views | DavoIPB | I thought pig was very poor last night. Really the goal was it for him. I suppose that is what a striker is on the pitch for though. El Miz was exceptional and should get a start. Chaplin wasn't great either. Did take goal well though.
More goals for Pig and Chaplin last night on 10:46 - Oct 6 with 2055 views | Garv | Considering we won our last home game 6-0 playing with a 10 behind Bonne I'd keep it the same, and take the opportunity to get Edwards involved again, but Cambridge could call for Pigott playing just behind or alongside Bonne. Didn't he play the ball through for Chaplin's goal?

More goals for Pig and Chaplin last night on 10:49 - Oct 6 with 2009 views | itfcjoe | Celina isn't available, so out of the 3 behind i think Chaplin did the most to get a start on Saturday in his place - going into the game you'd have expected Edwards but he didn't quite look ready yet. I'd like to see El Miz ahead of Evans also, and as it is Shrewsbury at home here we will dominate the ball I'd get KVY and Woolf in there

Sorry perhaps I wasn’t clear. I wouldn’t drop Bonne in a hundred years. He is nailed on. But we have as many as 11 players for the 3 roles behind him and at least a couple are (possibly) good for goals.

Ah yes he’s away isn’t he. I wouldn’t tinker as much as you though. CM and CB are strong now and I love my man Janoi and I’d play him regardless.

More goals for Pig and Chaplin last night on 10:55 - Oct 6 with 1962 views | Freddies_Ears | Chaplin was excellent last night, surely a good replacement for Celina. Pig was actually ok - a bit rusty, but he has presence and on another day would have scored a couple more. Wouldn't drop Bonne now, though, as he seems to have benefited from Jeffers' coaching.
More goals for Pig and Chaplin last night on 11:00 - Oct 6 with 1923 views | SomethingBlue | Chaplin needs a start in the league I think — he has the right pedigree and is a real pest for defences, and for various reasons it just hasn't quite started for him yet. Good that he's now scored a couple. Incidentally while he's a lovely footballer I do wonder whether, longer term, Fraser comes bottom of the Chaplin/Celina/Edwards/Burns pile — particularly on occasions like Saturday when urgency and intensity were lacking.

Agree with all of this and makes a lot of sense to bring KVY back in.

If we persist with playing Fraser out of position, then yes, I agree.

Thing is, I don't think Fraser is our best No 10 and don't think he is our best option on the left either. I like him and he is inevitably going to play a big part this season but I'd back most of our other AMs/wingers to produce better "numbers" while giving us a bit more drive. Maybe I'm wrong, just as I am currently being proved wrong by Burns.

Fraser drifts out of games far too much for my liking, totally agree on what a lovely player he is but I don't think he's offering enough. Celina does a bit too, but that may just be fitness as much as anything else. In fact, we really haven't gotten that three behind the striker playing well for more than a few minutes at a time yet. Pigott, has been a bit unfortunate in how well Bonne is playing. He's looked good but had a lack of support for the most part.

As Steve has mentioned, none of them are really working together that well behind the striker. That said, of the options we have Fraser is less versatile, in that he really needs to play centrally. He'll play a part but if it means playing Fraser out wide of the three, then everyone of those as ahead of him.

Yep agree on both those points. Long term (well, in the next few weeks ... ) I really want to see Edwards/Celina/Burns as the three, with Chaplin pushing at least two of those positions very very hard. We might not always be able to be that expansive and that might be where Fraser's control comes in. (Also on Celina, he's definitely in and out of games so far but delivering the numbers atm ... three assists in two games ... I suspect he'll keep doing that in a way Fraser doesn't really) [Post edited 6 Oct 2021 11:32]

I'd like to see Woolf back in. Burgess hasn't shown enough and both centre backs are prone to hoofing up to Bonne. Nsiala had a decent match last night too. I can see the argument for settled combinations and partnerships but I wouldn't be against Woolf + Nsiala as a pair.

Fraser got 30 goals and 27 assists over the past 3 seasons in worse sides than ours. We really haven't fully utilised him yet at all. I understand where you are coming from in the sense the others provide more dynamism and directness but he's a player that'll rack up decent numbers if he plays every week.

To be fair he has played most weeks for us too. Agree with other comments in this thread about him being a lovely footballer but lacking a bit of that dynamism that others offer us. I wonder if he could be one to drop back & play in the 2? Especially in home games where we will dominate the ball.

Sorry but I've got to disagree with getting KVY and Woolf back in the squad neither of them looked brilliant last night in my opinion. KVY too many times made runs forward but then missed the overlap from Jackson or vice versa and didn't look particularly comfortable on the ball when he had it, Woolfy for me takes too long on the ball which allows the attacking team to press him which leads to him rushing to move the ball on. El Miz played well last night but I think he will have to wait his turn so to speak with Evans and Morsy the clear pairing Cook wants to go for in the centre mid department.
More goals for Pig and Chaplin last night on 12:14 - Oct 6 with 1428 views | franz_tyson | I think Pigott could play as a number 10 if we want him in the team, but then so can Fraser, Chaplin, Celina and now Harper. I like Pigott and maybe he could stiffen us up a bit in the number 10 role. I think El Mizouni deserves a place at least on the bench and maybe at the expense of Harper. We’ve got so many candidates for number 10 in the squad, I don’t think we need Harper on the bench to cover 10 and DM. El Miz simply looks a better bet to cover DM.

I just think they both give us totally different options on the ball, where Woolf may hold it for a bit long at times it is because he is trying to break a line or quicken up the play - it's easy to just put your foot through it and aim for Bonne - I don't expect him to come back in to the team anytime soon sadly though

I'm not saying I'm against him holding it for a bit of time but when he gets closed down he starts to look flustered and ends up just hoofing the ball which ends up giving it away or tries to roll it back to the keeper which then puts them under pressure. I'll probably get slaughtered for this but I think Toto is the better out of the two and I would rather seem him starting if either Burgess or Edmunson got injured.
