So, that working from home guidance 09:12 - Dec 13 with 2365 views | homer_123 | I've had to come into the office this morning to sort out a couple of server issues. Everyone else is WFH. We have three other businesses in our 'block' - every single one of them is choc full of people....car park full - apart from our spaces.

So, that working from home guidance on 09:19 - Dec 13 with 1834 views | Guthrum | Some people can't, because they use specialist equipment/systems or are handling sensitive data. Not all businesses have the infrastructure to extend their networks securely over the web. On the other hand, it could simply be resistence to WFH by staff or (more likely) management.

Our ceo wants to follow guidance. ( had a video call with whole staff base But DWP won't allow it. In our office we have 4 off at moment covid positive. I'm off today annual leave but took part in the video calls.

That isn't remotely true about impact of Government funding on WFH or not. Depending on the work you are doing, data protection will forbid working from home but it's nothing to do with funding [Post edited 13 Dec 2021 9:25]

That's exactly what it is mate. And they wouldn't want to miss their big night out would they - where else are they going to get kicks from having an expense account that's getting a 23 year old steaming at an xmas party?
So, that working from home guidance on 09:28 - Dec 13 with 1707 views | StokieBlue | For us it's basically our choice. Can WFH or can come in if something vital needs doing or if it's for our mental wellbeing. Companies are basically doing whatever they want as the government stance isn't a forced mandate but "please WFH". SB

So, that working from home guidance on 09:37 - Dec 13 with 1623 views | Ftnfwest | Our guidance is as SB's below - i was going into town tomorrow/Wednesday and still am (WFH anyway the other days). Need to be for IT reasons tomorrow, and then Wednesday because I'm going to the Emirates with my Wet Spam supporting mate, so may as well be down there during the day. Will be in the premier lounge which may be interesting... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Is it true in regards to our situation. The wording via the dwp to our company was As a government funding programme you are required to continue working on the office as normal.

Of course but an Estate Agency wouldn't fall into that.....

I’m fortunate at work to be under a different management chain than the rest in the building, and they’ve said to WFH… but the reasoning for the others to remain is baffling. They’ve completely got themselves in a middle, forgotten the reasons they gave previously, and when called out on it they shut everyone down. Almost as if to say ‘fck off do what we say you aren’t having a jolly at home over xmas’

I hate this attitude though. Just because the government are rubbish and don't follow the rules doesn't mean people shouldn't follow the rules. Nowhere in life to two wrongs make a right. SB

They'd need people to man the phones, presumably. Tho I'd have thought most of the staff would be out doing viewings, rather than sitting in the office.

DWP are majority working from home. As are most central Government departments. I'd suggest your situation isn't as clear as you think it is and funding isn't the issue but the work you are doing is. The main point is the Govt have made this as confusing as possible to then say "don't look at us" when it all goes wrong.

No. I'm not saying funding Is the issue It's government funded contracted companies are to continue working in the office. The financial aspects are irrelevant.

So, that working from home guidance on 10:16 - Dec 13 with 1364 views | Steve_M | I'm in the office today but I have physio this afternoon which is 10 minutes away. It's very quiet and the offices I can see in an adjacent building look pretty dead. As I can walk in, I'll see how this week goes - there's only a few of us down this end of the office so the risk in here isn't that high, not sure I fancy a packed tube at the moment.

You literally did above: "Still in the office as its government funded" But anyway It also isn't true in a blanket ruling sense which was my point. We have many 'private sector' contracts to the FCDO who are working from home and have been throughout. You should do what you are comfortable with. Any company worth working for would recognise that. [Post edited 13 Dec 2021 10:23]

If that is true, I'd suggest you get hold of a copy of that guidance, check it's still current/valid and then am sure there are plenty of journalists that would run that story. If you need help contacting one, pm me. BL

In that case it's probably the second category, wilful ignoring of the rules.

Basically if your manager is a 50+ year old bloke who just likes to be out of the house and away from his family you are screwed, otherwise probably alright from those I know in this situation
