Indulge me a moment, please, as a thought has just occurred to me.
I met Martyn Pert back in April of this year, on work business, right at the point that it seemed as if the takeover had fallen through and even the likes of Phil were reporting that nothing was happening. We got talking football and he brought up the takeover, telling me that from what he knew it was still definitely going ahead.
Obviously, he was right. But what business did a coach at Man Utd have knowing inside information about the impending takeover of Ipswich Town?
I think it's broadly accepted now that Cook was not the choice of GC20, but they decided to stick with him and see what happened. Could it be that McKenna has always been on their radar as 'their man'? |  |
