Why do cabin crew insist the window blind stays up on take off and landing?

Always intrigued me, and annoyed me.

Interesting, also heard that the reason they say brace position is so you break your neck nice and quickly should things go south, so to speak

There are only so many dentists in the world for them to go round and ask "do you recognise these teeth?" aren't there? If we got our hair cut much less often then they would identify us by that wouldn't they?

Being practical on these things, it would help hugely if a ball of string dropped down with the oxygen masks with the instruction to tie your ankles and wrists together to save the mortuary staff the task of matching them up.
