but fixed penalty notices must mean the legislation was breached, not just the guidance? surely?
And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Like the law wasn't broken when they tried to prorogue Parliament or tried to change the law to keep their mate in.......................................

As Orwell wrote “The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears, and the fact of FPNs brought against people in Downing Street breaking lockdown rules. It was their final, most essential command, the tossers.”
Or something like that anyway.
The sad thing is that despite this meaning the Met believe they broke the law, people are still defending them and dismissing it an unimportant.

The worst government we have ever had - and there's some pretty stiff competition.

If they do just bare-face it out, maybe that's not such a bad outcome politically? Getting shot of Johnson would allow them to present themselves as clean (ha) at the next election...
Yes, I am looking for a silver lining.
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Yep. The early comparison of Johnson with Trump was more apt they I expect many of us realised at the time. I don't recall a government ever systematically lying as much as this lot do. Campbell was obviously the King of Spin and changed the landscape under Blair, but this is just on nother level. Routine law breaking, rule breaking and lying day after day.
Misleading the House over Iraq was the biggy under the opposition, but we have Johnson misleading the House pretty much every week and sometimes several times a day. Then there's illegally shutting down Parliament, blatant Cronyism and misuse of public funds, breaking lockdown laws, perverting the course of justice by 'losing' evidence, misleading Parliamentary committees, gaslighting us over most of their announcement (like this where they've clearly broken the law but expect us not to believe so), winding up their followers to attack national institutions.... It's endless.
They are breaking the trust that our democracy is underpinned by. As such they're breaking our democracy. Nothing less.
Like I told you all before and many people shouted at me; nothing will happen, nobody cares. I also remind you all that I said inflation will be the only thing that can bring this useless government down.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Not even close. What about the insane government who marched us into WW1?

I care Chico.
Just like I care about the stench of cronyism around the awarding of PPE contracts The whiff of corruption from the handling of MP's second jobs The unlawful prerogation of parliament The whole matter of who paid what and when for interior decorations The Savile smear campaign The open racism and homophobia The deliberate (IMO) targetting of the weakest and most in need The Acuri affair The drip feed of daily lies and misrepresentations The hokey-cokey approach to Covid lockdowns The lack of a strategy (other than, it seems, pushing anything that lines the pockets of Conservative MPs and their "friends") The general incompetence The disdain held for citizens of the country and the rule of law And the swill of dirty money, Russian or other, helpng to support these criminals
These are ALL important. Some people may be disatisfied with our current version of democracy but ignoring these things, including the lies about "Partygate", will do nothing but make matters worse.

Not too many of us experienced that in fairness, so they can’t be the worse that “we” have had. Depends how you read that statement I suppose, so I’m probably being pedantic.
Anyway, there’s still plenty of time to marched into WW3!
The FPNs aren’t nothing though. They at least cover off the wishes for the Met to treat them similar to others who received FPNs for similar breaches. Granted, we don’t get to find out the names and they’re being offered a right to appeal. So that could well be a nice loop hole that sees them quietly dropped after appeal. If that happens then I’d agree it’s been a complete whitewash.
The chances of BJ now being held to account for misleading Parliament over this are zero.

Pffft, unless you have marched on Downing St, orchestrated a coup, abolished the monarchy, and put MPs in prison, you don’t really care.
