Think Harper the first of 3 or 4 out the door before we bring a couple of quality additions in.

Who might follow do you think?

Penney has to be deemed surplus now. Maybe Hladky if we got a decent fee and could replace him with a cheaper option?

Possibly Humphreys on loan - would be good for him to play regular football.
A bit contentious but would we sell Edmundson for good money if we could replace with a left footed ball playing replacement - think there was a Sheff U link or suggestion. I’d hope not

I’d say just Penney to go now and 1 more to come in.

I wonder if Edwards or Vincent-Young goes as well

I think with Burns seemingly prone to injury or at least carrying knocks.. AND also with a potential World Cup call, or at least two late September friendlies

I think Edwards and KVY will be kept on to play and back up.

The Jackson use in RWB seemed an odd one, and I assume won’t be repeated.

Penney should go out.

I think we need a strong striker as a minimum. Perhaps also a creative mid.

KVY had a good showing against Shrewbury over the weekend and is probably as close to Burns as we have on the right.

I'd like to see Edwards played a little more centrally - he was getting in some good positions on Saturday when he came on.

Out of the two, I think Edwards would be more likely to go on loan just because KVY is probably better defensively.

Penney ideally

Maybe Humphries on loan somewhere.

One in

I think the time for clearing the decks and bringing in replacements was earlier in the summer, which is what makes this one a bit strange - he will surely need replacing. If penney leaves, for example, that makes more sense because he's already been replaced.

Hope not. Both have good quality, I'm sure.

I’d like to think Humphreys will be 4th choice CM now. Aluko can also drop in there comfortably.

Penney out and one more attacking option in for me now.

I did wonder that about Edwards. Suspect if we got a decent fee for him he’d go, otherwise a good loan move.

Purely my interpretation here, but I wonder if McKenna sees Edwards as a versatile option to keep? He has played him in the RWB role as well as the more attacking positions. He has a bit of pace, plus the ability to go past a player with a bit of skill, so if (and on evidence so far it is only an if) McKenna can Harness it then there is a useful player there.

Striker and possibly an experienced central midfielder - unless KMc views Humphreys as being ready as the 4th option.

Penney the likely candidate to leave.

Harper has been a likely loan all summer, he was played as a CB pre-season.

Not sure his departure means a replacement is incoming. We tend to work the other way round. Get your target then release someone. We have Ball as cover and Aluko can cover a central role if needed, as can Humphreys. I think we are fine centrally.

KVY and Edwards have both done enough to earn a shirt, at least until Xmas, when we may look to strengthen.

Penney is the obvious spare part and I imagine he will move on before the deadline.

After that, another attacking player appears to be on KM radar, I could though live with what we have already.

According to Stuart Watson in the Ipswich Star, we currently have 19 senior players (excluding goalkeepers) which is three below the maximum of 22, so there is no need to get rid of anyone, unless we are trying to save money or think the squad is too big (or will be if we add a couple). That being the case, I certainly think we'll keep KVY and Edwards because they've done quite well when I've seen them this season, and McK appears to rate them because he has played them or had them on the bench in league games. That only really leaves Penney but the impression I get is that he is a good squad player with a good attitude, so maybe McK would be willing to keep him on for that reason. And I suppose it is just possible that he would be needed in the unlikely event both Leigh and Davis were out. It is also looking unlikely that Hladky will go, perhaps on the basis that we would want decent cover were Walton to be out. Some of our fringe players will also be needed for the Pizza Cup. As regards Humphreys (who doesn't count towards the 22 limit), there are three things that make me think we'll keep him on. First, he may be too young to loan out. Second, McK may want to keep under his wings. Third, we are a bit short in midfield. But who knows what is really going on, given MA keeps his cards close to his chest.

Stuart Watson, generally a good guy but has got his figures all wrong in today's article.

I suspect Penney will go out and possibly one new attacking addition .A MAN U loanee could be on the cards if no-one suitable comes along. Don't expect a raft of last minute activity with Ashton at the helm or any knee jerk decisions. This is a calculating and professional team who will agree on who fits the style of play. Otherwise Berahimo would already be through the door.

I'd be surprised if we're desperately hanging on last minute business this time round. Thus far we've done our Summer business in a pretty methodical manner.

Perhaps Harper was a member of the 'Saido Berahino School of Can't be Arsed' method while he was at WBA? Now, there was a guy who wasted his undoubted talent.
