If you opened your door into a colleague's car what would you do?

I came back to two big grey streaks on my car, having had a grey park next to mine after I'd gone into work. One has left a small scratch, and their door lined with where it would have hit my car.

I reckon I can probably T-Cut it all out with a bit of work and leave little damage, but am I wrong to be annoyed they've said nothing? I've already had a bad day so wondering if I'm being precious?

I'd be tempted to photo it and leave a note.

But don't go overboard in case they genuinely didn't realise.

At least wait for a response before battering them to a bloody heap.

Nonsense. The only proportionate response is this

If I had one of those that's possibly the way I would go about it.

Yeah I took photos cos it looked worse than once I got home and had space to get to it and inspect properly.

The not realising gets me as I can't imagine they'd not notice parking so close and the size of the paintmarks etc.

Colleague informs they think they know whose motor it is. Tomorrow will not be fun if they're right.

You're not wrong, if it's made enough contact to leave what you call "big grey streaks" it can't have been done unnoticed, so it's a dick move.

I always find the best jokes are the ones that need explaining

As for Mullet, I think its a real dick move. These things happen, of course likely to be a genuine accident but highly unlikely you wouldn't realise if it's been done with sufficient force to leave a mark. I certainly would leave a note and / or ask around to see if I can find the owner.

With insurance companies telling their clients to deny everything, it's no small wonder that this behaviour is, sadly, all too prevalent.

I would apologise, tell them and pay for the damage. Accidents happen. Simple. In my world, you pay what you owe. I’ve done it too.

If the tool that did it, and I was absolutely certain it was that person, didn’t leave a note or tell me my choice would be confront them or run a nail down the side of their car, all four panels. Either would be fine by me - or both.

I think he was a reporter in that film who watched the mermaids leave the sea and then return to it. He only had one line:

"I counted them all out and I counted them all back in again."

I wouldn't do or say anything, because they'll just deny it, unless you catch them in the act then sorry Mullet you just have to let it go, I know they're totally in the wrong and your blood is semi boiling but you just have to put it down to a annoying car par scrape and sort it the best way you can..
