"We haven't played anyone decent yet" 08:02 - Oct 2 with 1666 views | tractorboy1978 | Turns out we've now played all of the current top 6 and 7 of the current top 12 in our first 11 games. I think people underestimate how good we are now and how average we make teams look. Plymouth are the only side so far that have matched us for quality.
"We haven't played anyone decent yet" on 08:14 - Oct 2 with 1582 views | Dubtractor | Yesterday was a real statement for me. Despite the tight scoreline, we completely bossed that game, against a previously unbeaten team. Having got through that tough run of games in decent shape, we really need to put our foot down now and establish a strong position in the table. I mentioned yesterday, but at some point we're going to give someone a hammering at Portman Road, we have long spells in games where we completely dominate teams but without getting the goals we ought to (eg first 25 minutes yesterday). One day those opportunities will click and we'll score a hatful. [Post edited 2 Oct 2022 9:08]

We are not clinical enough. We may get away with it in this league, we would need to be better if we do go up.
"We haven't played anyone decent yet" on 09:23 - Oct 2 with 1266 views | ringwoodblue | We’ve also played 4 of the bottom 5 so many of our upcoming matches will be against mid-table teams that are very inconsistent so if we catch them on a good day we will have to be at our best, catch them on a bad day and there could be some big wins.

We've not won the league yet, nor had the summer window to come. We've got our best manager since Mick and our best owners for a generation. In five years time we might be worrying about promotion to the top flight and worrying about tickets for grounds we've not seen for 20 years.

We are still not clinical enough in this league. For all our dominance, we have only put MKD to bed.
Whilst we have started really well… on 09:33 - Oct 2 with 1208 views | Bloots | …obviously, and you’d have to be incredibly negative to say otherwise, in reality we haven’t won a match that we wouldn’t expect to win if you look at the fixtures in isolation. Yesterday was a good win and a great atmosphere, but in theory we should expect to beat Portsmouth at home. Beating Sheff Weds, Plymouth, Derby, perhaps Peterborough, Portsmouth etc away from home would be the only type of matches that we should be surprised at winning. The squad is performing at the level it is capable of, and if it continues to then we’ll be fine. But we have a really strong g squad and this is the level of performance we should be expecting.

Did you miss Shrewsbury, Accrington, Burton, FGR etc? We've had games where teams have sat back on their goal line, games where every strike we hit either went in or forced a save etc. We're league top scorers and have had at least 4-5 pts robbed off us by terrible reffing. I'm not sure how much more clinical we need to be? Posh were 3-0 up yesterday and let it slip to 3-2 for example. It'd be lovely to just turn up and tonk everyone 3-0 but football never works like that. Some days you just need to ride out poor play and circumstance to win leagues.

"We haven't played anyone decent yet" on 09:34 - Oct 2 with 1185 views | FrimleyBlue | It's the Goals conceded which has just needs to be tidied up again, in the last 11 games now we've either kept a cleansheet or conceded 2 goals. If we are going to concede, just 1 would be ok.

As long as score one more then the opposition it really doesn't matter.

True, but when we had a run without conceding it really helped spur us on.

Agree and a clean sheet is always nice but slightly odd post from Micknose when we won 3-2, dominated the game and they needed two penalties to score against us. Open play XG was something like 0.06 wasn't it? He's reaching deep for this one.

Not really reaching deep is it to state what I feel is an interesting fact, trying to find a way to be offended is reaching deep J2. Of course if we score 1 more than we concede then yes we will win the game, yesturday was the first time we did score more than those when we conceded 2 goals.

I'm not offended. You take the contrarian opinion on virtually everything for the sake of it. Again: 0.06 XG from open play 2 penalties Town won Town dominated Keep reaching.

"We haven't played anyone decent yet" on 09:56 - Oct 2 with 1029 views | HighgateBlue | This is true, and now we can assess our form with much more confidence. When the only top half team we'd beaten was Shrewsbury, a little circumspection was perfectly reasonable. Finishing third, say, and having to play those tough teams in the playoffs would have been no guarantee of success. But having won one, drawn one, and lost one of the tough three games, we can all see that we are definitely good enough to be challenging for the title, and objectively I think we're just about worthy favourites. Plymouth have a lot of travelling to do, do not have as big a squad as us, nor the same capacity to patch up in January if needed, and they still have to come to Portman Road (as do Wednesday). Portsmouth are a decent side, but you'd have to say we're just better than them. There was a lot of optimism about how many points we'd get from these three games. Four points was always going to be a perfectly acceptable return. We're basically a quarter of the way through the season, and we've only lost to the top team away from home. There's plenty of cause for optimism, and on Tuesday night things may look healthier again - Plymouth face Wednesday and we have Cambridge at home. We've a run of easier games now, and we can start to put clear blue water between us and third. Maybe even second...

I feel i've been quite balanced with my views over the months J2, not sure there is anything wrong in discussing something about the side tbh, im sure KM looks at both sides of the coin too. Not sure why you are including your stats like im dissing yesturdays win? as i had already said yesturday, we played some really nice football as we have everyweek and as i've been saying for weeks now to, we are doing really well.

Games that look easy on paper but it is what happens on the pitch that matters. The biggest concern I have is our willingness to lose possession by conceding fouls. When a team has around 65% possession you shouldn’t be committing more fouls that you opponents and you certainly shouldn’t be giving away two penalties.

I was at all four of them. Shrewsbury we controlled. You are right. Accrington we scored two late goals Burton -we were lucky. FGR - we wobbled at 2-0
