Are we in some kind of weird parallel universe?

I doubt Phil would let me post what I thought of the ERG Brexiteers. There are no words strong enough to describe my depth of loathing for them, for what they’ve done to the people of our union countries. Same for people who STILL defend them. Apologies don’t cut it. It wasn’t a mistake, they knew what they were doing.

I think a lot of Tories will be hedging their bets and trying to save their seat on the gravy train at Westminster. You'll see a lot of "only following orders" type statements in the coming weeks and months I reckon.

Their whole just say the soundbites media training has kicked into overdrive again. Even the thickest don't believe the "we've only been in 2 weeks" type guff now.

Yet on Brexit, he was literally the one at the steering wheel of the ERG.

I see James 'spineless forelock tugger' Cartlidge has been pontificating on about how immoral it is to cut taxes for the wealthy whilst benefits are cut.

He's going to be f**king furious when he finds out the party he's been representing in parliament have spent the last 12 years doing.

Indeed. It was calculated and deliberate.

I bet quite a few will be prepared to say the same outside of the Commons (because the believe it or because they’re worried about their ratings), yet most will vote with the whip on the finance bill so it’s all empty words (as mentioned above).

So what has happened to thee Daily Mail goose stepping up and down Whitehall, leading hordes of the incredibly thick (brexiters) stating that the only way to deal with the paddies and other foreign johnnies, was to trigger Aeticle 16 ?

Could it be that like the guff of they us more than we need them, 40 new deals on day 1 it was little more than empty headed bluster, based on the need to keep the thickos on board, and the knowledge that they were still stupid enough to swallow sht from Johnson ?

Control our boarders now looks to be taking another hit, as with the government who have as good as given up on import controls.

It is as I said, its another step in the continuation of the slow journey back into the EU....bit by bit. As the last shout of brexit is witnessed in the suicidal banzai charge of the ERG.

Kamikarsi Fartings economy wrecking ball.

No good apologising. Don’t, just don’t. Baker and his sorry shower had no idea what Brexit was. They had to go to Chequers on a Sunday in 2018 to have explained to them what the Single Market and the Customs Union was. In their arrogance and stupidity they didn’t want to know.

People like JRM would go go Select Committees, having not read the brief or understanding any aspect on it. He and other tories like that fat greasy idiot who was MP for Dover would look at the people being questioned at the committee (my boss, the head of HMRC, Border Force etc) and treat them with utter contempt.

They were never serious about any negotiations about anything, which lead to a real risk of a situation of your worst nightmares. They are arrogant and stupid and I loathe the very thought of them.

So Mr Baker, don’t apologise. Don’t apologise for the underprepared meetings and contempt you showed to the EU either. Be proud and shout from the rooftops the benefits of Brexit. It won’t take you long, but if you’d bothered to do the work in the first place you’d have known this.

Rant over. I need a drink. Not least because I’m still on a high from yesterdays win and Mrs Cs NFL team won at Tottenham’s magnificent ground this afternoon.

I think it is only now just dawning on the thickos that those (the wealthy) behind brexit were not interested in their petty whinges about 'naughty foreigners'taking all the fish, too many brown faces, hedgehog flavoured cucumbers being banned or whatever else small minded bigots had allowed Farage and others to fill their otherwise empty heads with.

It was about grinding down the state and the social benefits it afforded, which had to be reduced (removed?). Something that could not be achieved while the UK was still in the EU. n As they had funny ideas about the cleanliness of the water/air. And the safety of workers and the food they ate. Strange folk, thems EU types.

What did not occur to those lesser dimwits (Rees-Mogg et al) was that tom ontinue to trade with the EU the UK would have to comply with certain standards, and lose the advantages what went with that compliance ie now being a third country.

Result. The UK now has all the costs of obligation with not of the benefits. Hence, the 4 million extra customs forms, the ever increasing bureaucracy in UK citizens travelling to the EU and the loss of joint ventures in education and science.

Someone said it was like leaving a broadband deal and still having to pay, whilst signing up for one one expensive and with a lower speed.

Voting down the Finance Bill would be seen as akin to a vote of no confidence, which would mean a GE. As I cannot see another Tory PM not being elected by voters, more so given the fractious climate.

However, they are faced with the choice. Do they think Truss can improve matters, or will her puppet masters insist on her going the full brexit hoping to get as much done, and that some will stick after she has gone.

While ERG loons care not a jot for the suffering this will inflict, Tory MPs (especially the young) will recognise this could poison the party and it's reputation for years, if not decades.

it might be thought, better to get it over with sooner. Force a GE and then watch Labour struggle with the mess they inherit

There were those like Jonathan Jones who resigned on principle. A man of integrity. The U.K. needs people like JJ now. Truss is a clown. And she has surrounded herself with clowns.

An interesting and lengthy conference in Dublin yesterday run by a group called Ireland’s Future. Folk wanting to talk about a United Ireland. Important to see ownership of this issue removed from Sinn Fein. And important. James Nesbitt (the actor) from a unionist background and other unionists wanting in on the discussion (without necessarily being pro or anti unity). Sammy Wilson, being Sammy Wilson, didn’t attend and is now labelling unionists who may be leaning towards a United Ireland as patsies and lefties. Sammy and his ilk won’t say it but Brexit is a big factor and momentum might well be against them. And a new vision.

From the outside looking in, the UK’s governance is a sh!t show and has been for a while. Politicians don’t ignore polls.

Boris is Banquo’s ghost. His party know he knows how to win elections…….

Dissenting Tories will not vote down the finance bill.
They don't need to.
They just need to threaten to do so.
If Truss hasn't got the numbers she won't dare to chance it.
She will want a green light for the finance bill and anything that is a bone of contention she will drop.
That means the higher rate tax threshold at a bare minimum.
The cuts to public services were never mentioned in the 'fiscal event' so they can go ahead.

Brexit like the CoE and the Royal family will simply fade. By how muxh and at what speed is the only real debating ppoints.

And that is where it is with Irish unification. There may come some symbolic ribbon cutting in the future, but that will be it.

There's whole generation who have known no other way of life. No border so almost seamless inter mingling. Yes, the old hatreds will continue by those with a financial interest in keeping them going - most illegal activities.

Yesterdays conference changed nothing. None there owned the hall, and all that signified was an acknowledgement of how things had changed, rather than any engineering of change, in as much as the changes allowed for such a meeting.

The barriers have long been broken, and long may the folk on that island move to more integration. Hatred is not a culture either, nor are absurd gestures such as painting ill informed pictures on the end of houses

I've always believed that Irish Unification is inevitable.
The English (esp. the Tories) don't really want them - more trouble than they're worth.
All that is needed is for some, but not all, of the protestants to realise that Westminster doesn't give a sh*t about them and that's it - their Epiphany moment.
If any UK PM is going to deliver that Epiphany moment then it's Truss.

Not misleading, it’s Brexit as a wider piece. And I linked the full quote.
