After Ullaa inexplicably recommending terrible Moonfall on here the other day, I thought it might be nice to have a thread celebrating actual good films of recent times.
I've just watched Brian and Charles and would heartily recommend it. Heart-warming and a bit (lot) quirky, not really like many other films I've ever seen.
Hang on, someone recommended Moonfall? I watched that on a flight the other week and it was godawful. Sadly I had no internet to check rotten tomatoes when in the air.
Some of my more recent faves are Nightcrawler, The Gentlemen, and The Invisible Man.

Not heard of that, but Rotten Tomatoes rates it well!
EDIT: I misread. The following is about Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
It's one of Taika Waititi's early films- the brilliant Kiwi director behind What we did in the Shadows and Thor:Ragnarok (arguably the best Marvel film of the Avengers era).
It's got emotional depth and range and is one of my all time favourite films. Very funny, very moving and poses a lot of questions, too.
EDITING IN: For anyone who enjoyed it, a more stylised and visually lush film tackling similar themes is The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet.
Different but great: The French Dispatch.
I really enjoyed Bullet Train recently.
If you've watched People Just Do Nothing but haven't seen the film, it's well worth a watch.
See How They Run at the cinema recently was good.
Edgar Wright's Last Night in Soho a minor classic. Visually stunning.
I'm not a massive Elvis fan, but I am a massive Elvis fan.

I will be checking those out. "See How They Run at the cinema recently was good." Talking of running....
"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."
