I wasnt necessarily being serious, just a few months ago every time there was a vacancy somewhere someone would post a tweet or betting site odds linking him to it

I wonder if McKenna will be linked to the Southampton job on 11:15 - Feb 12 with 1712 views | JackNorthStand | He could be linked but I would think that is all it would be . I think vast majority of Ipswich fans see that whilst being young and inexperienced, McKenna has the potential to be a special manager. Outside of Ipswich, particularly fans of premier league clubs probably aren't aware of this. So even if Southamptons hierarchy are aware of McKenna it would be an extremely bold appointment On paper McKenna has been in full management 18 months, all of those 18 months managing in the third division. He may be linked but realistically I do not think there is any chance of him being appointed at a Premier League club until he gets a promotion on his CV and a club he manages are going well in the championship.
I wonder if McKenna will be linked to the Southampton job on 11:45 - Feb 12 with 1621 views | BloomBlue | Crazy really, only gave him a 3 year contract a couple of months ago. You would assume whoever made the decision to select him as a manager would also get sacked, but they won't. Another club who was well run and now just a basket case.
I wonder if McKenna will be linked to the Southampton job on 11:51 - Feb 12 with 1591 views | jas0999 | Highly unlikely. His win ratio in past couple of months is poor. We’ve also gone from top of the table to six points behind second. Suspect they will be looking for a more experienced manager. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
I wonder if McKenna will be linked to the Southampton job on 11:53 - Feb 12 with 1573 views | J2BLUE | Very much doubt it. While we can all see McKenna will end up a very good manager he is currently underperforming in league one. Hopefully he’s here for a long term project and can eventually get us back to the Prem.

I wonder if McKenna will be linked to the Southampton job on 12:28 - Feb 12 with 1496 views | ringwoodblue | With all due respect to McKenna, I would say not. Saints need an experienced manager capable of motivating and getting the most out of the players - a Sean Dyche type character.

I wonder if McKenna will be linked to the Southampton job on 12:50 - Feb 12 with 1451 views | Illinoisblue | After being burned by employing an experienced lower league manager who proved to be entirely out of his depth, they’ll surely go for an inexperienced manager from a league lower than Jones was managing in.

I wonder if McKenna will be linked to the Southampton job on 13:04 - Feb 12 with 1405 views | southnorfolkblue | I think he will manage in the Premier League some day but personally think he needs at least 2 or 3 more years learning his craft in the EFL.

Yes - basket case, or not, Southampton are said to be wedded to having appointment via metrics in their basket, and McKenna's metrics would in no way stand out. What he has actually brought to our club has, until recently, been quantifiable in terms of having a definite strategy that has blown away the decade of cobwebs. Not sure why some posters want to write off Jones as out of his depth etc when, latterly, Luton were about 6/7 places below where he is now. Ramsey, Clough and Robson were unique in creating something out of nothing; nearly every other manager in the top tier needs the relevant, contemporary support which the absent Saints board has conspicuously not provided. Good managers still don't become bad ones overnight; that takes decades of falling away, as many of our own appointments have aptly, if somewhat sadly, demonstrated.

I wonder if McKenna will be linked to the Southampton job on 14:24 - Feb 12 with 1182 views | OldFart71 | McKenna whilst proving he can manage a club as far as convincing players to sign, telling them what he wants them to do on the pitch etc. Hasn't proven anything yet and if he went to Southampton and didn't keep them up he could possibly end up in the same league as Town ? Are Southampton bigger than ITFC ? I don't think so. He could have been considered for Everton before and after Lampard. But it's no good as they say trying to run before you can walk. Lampard has now had two jobs and both were beyond him. Sadly for Frank I think he has too higher opinion of himself, which McKenna doesn't have. But McKenna still has to show he can be a success. The current form of Town and the length of time we have been in limbo doesn't at the moment suggest he has what it takes as a top manager. But we must accept, although we are all hungry for success, that he is a rooky manager. Providing he learns from his mistakes he'll be fine.

I read somewhere that "Stevie G" is interested in the Leeds job ... That's ridiculous , can you imagine the fans welcoming him , funny thing is I think a job at Southampton would be better option even if they do go down...but I guess he is keeping an eye on Klopp.

Far too early to say whether McKenna will ever make it but he does have a professional air about him that has been lacking in some more experienced managers we have had in the last couple of decades. I think he as well as the club's higher management recognise he needs to learn his craft. That is also why I am confident he will still be here if we don't get promoted (as long as we don't plummet completely) and for next season even if we go up and do well in the Championship.
