When ridiculous figures keep getting banded about for a striker
Surely we could shop abroad instead of paying inflated prices for a British striker. I'm sure for 3 million there must be decent players out there.

Thought the same when someone somewhere quoted the ridiculous price of £7m - £10m for Simms.

The brilliantly named Jizz Hornkamp has just been transferred from Willem II to Heracles in the Eredivisie for a shade under £1m

Yes, especially with Pert’s expertise.

He might be sh*t though, in fairness

I wonder how many of those could be signed now under the new post-Brexit regime. Pablo almost certainly not, as he wouldn’t have played enough qualifying league football or international matches. Shefki maybe through his Finland caps? Pukki almost certainly.

Challenging to get non-homegrown players in these days. Still doable of course, just harder than it was.

Do you really think that if knew of a good value player abroad we would be ignoring them? Not as simple as just deciding the target foreign players. Someone would need to be on the radar.

I still think we will announce Hirst soon. £1.5-2m plus top ups.

No inside info, just a hunch.

Truly impaired.

I would be surprised if we had. After years of ME inefficiency and neglect it’ll take a few years to get a good scouting network in place. We’ve only just began reclaiming Suffolk from norwich so mainland Europe might be a couple more seasons on the making.

That’s a great name. Sign him up!

If there’s a son of Guenchev that plays, we could have a front line of Jizz and Boncho. With ‘Music Hall’ names, if they’re no good at football, at least the half time entertainment would be a blast.

Lubo Guentchev! Played for Lowestoft, probably about 37 now but could maybe get a game.

Lubo and Jizz up front would a stimulating combination

It seems like just about any of the young players who have impressed in European leagues this season are being linked with Rangers. Namely:

Benie Traore : Plays for Hacken, 20 years old Ivory Coast international winger / forward. Was top scorer in the Swedish league last season. Fee of £4m+ being spoken about.

Raúl García : Plays for Betis and just spent time on loan at Mirandes. Betis looking to sell him, he's only 22 and meant to be very promising. Just bagged a lot of goals in the Segunda division in Spain. Everton also linked with him, but will cost £7m+.

Gustav Isaksen : Danish wonderkid, again 22 and just finished top scorer in the top division there. Plays for Midtjylland, expected to leave but been linked with all sorts from Liverpool to Rangers.

Ernest Nuamah: Tipped to leave Nordsjaelland this summer, only 19 years old. Ghanaian.

I can't see any of these moving to the Championship, although stranger things have happened. One player I think we should look at is Frank Magri. He's French Cameroonian and just come off a good season for Bastia in Ligue 2 in France. Had some injuries which kept him out for a bit but he's young, quick and can finish.

That rings some bells, so googled it. And yes they have - new GBE criteria to open things up a bit. https://theathletic.com/4610045/2023/06/14/fa-gbe-visas-overseas-players-transfe

looks like Championship clubs are allowed 4 new players who wouldn't have fit the previous rules. That sounds plenty to be able to bag us our next Pabs or Reuser.

Not the way it works these days. No such thing as having Romeo Zondervan in the stands taking notes. It's all done online, through consultants and using specialist software such as Wyscout.

The club have invested significantly into recruitment over the past year and appointed key people like Sam Williams, who we poached from Man Utd.
