Not many of that starting 11 remotely challenge for a league start 22:20 - Aug 9 with 4301 viewstextbackup

Leigh and Ball aside, looked very much a B team in that first half.

Harness’ final ball poor, not sure what to make of that Omar kids 65mins, certainly not writing him off, but didn’t see any wow factor that I was lead to believe I might after reading tweets when he signed.

Slightly worried Clarke didn’t look comfortable (Injury wise) just after coming on, could have been nothing however.

Decent win, and looking forward to Saturday now

Regarding Hutchinson there is a lot for him to do to prove the hype - and so many of these types of loans signings don’t end up being the success you hope. I really wouldn’t want to lose Edwards this season without knowing if this kid is any good or not. Louie Barry was meant to be a loan coup when we signed him and he was a dud.

I’d much rather see edwards out there ahead of OH, I just don’t see him playing enough to really improve himself, or us

Can’t argue with that. I just know if Edwards leaves he’ll rip it up somewhere. Hopefully it’s just a knock or illness.

I’d rather have got the raki Saki than the Chelsea kid as he’s proven himself over a season and was fantastic.

Something just bothers me a bit on this Hutchison kid, looks like one of those that may play for himself and not the team

Can't agree with that, thought he put in a decent shift tonight. Not everything he did came off but he's clearly got lots of ability and it's not like he was coasting through by any stretch.

Enjoyed how positive Taylor tries to be in all of his work, but think it will get us in trouble a few times this season.

Hutchinson clearly has technical ability but not sure he’s a world beater just now, and I think we need upgrades on Harness and Ladapo if we have serious ambitions of getting out of this division this season.

Kid got an assist on his first start.. A good contribution.
He's rough around the edges. But he's a youngster that's moved away from the comfort zone of his parent club. Which deserves some credit, imo. Give him time to settle properly. Big deal, mentally, for a teenager to go out on loan.

Thought it was terrible by the likes of Harness, Ladapo, Evans - senior pros. A complete lack of urgency throughout. Thought they'd all be absolutely giving it to be part of this ride again.

Taylor and the back line apart I was taken aback how in 2nd gear most were. Humphreys and Aluko injected that urgency for us.

I'd be shocked and a little annoyed if Harness is still here on the 1st September. Hutchinson is not a step up from Edwards but has McKenna-ball to learn and could easily shine in a few weeks time.

Yeah Taylor was tidy, not close to a starter yet IMO though.

Few of Ladapos passes were really lazy, and dare I say, pretty crap. I’m sure he completely missed the target in the second half, unchallenged, from the edge of the box.

Certainly not down beat, we did enough, but last season our second team were all good enough for a league 1 start… championship is a totally different beast.

For all the Football Manager ‘experts’ judging someone this early in the season should just be mindful of Leif Davies debut and the player he has become.

That is all.

Did he get an assist?
The first one was Jackson and the second goal he wasn't even on the pitch?

This is true. He didn't have a great debut

Hutchinson needs to first needs to get used to being around a proper matchday squad. I'm guessing he wasn't used too much at Chelsea (even for the bench) and also how we play etc.

Definitely too early to decide if he's good enough, but does need to take his chances when they come.

Pretty sure he flicked Jackson's cross into Taylor. If he did, it was the slightest touch. Don't mind being wrong. He played a part in the goal, regardless.

See this really is such a silly comment, but predictable.

From what I saw he doesn’t look particularly ready, clearly a highly qualified KMc thinks differently so ultimately I’m wrong. However as a fan that’s just been to the game I’m allowed to pass comment on what I saw.

And I didn’t really see anything that backed up the hype that was around him when he joined.

It took the likes of Broadhead and Hirst a few weeks to get up to speed with our patterns of play in and out of possession. He's coming into a side that know each other really well and he hasn't had the benefit of the full preseason to integrate into that.

Technically he looks really strong and I thought his work rate was very good. -I think it will be a while before we'll know how well he'll fit into the overall shape of the team.

In my mind it’s inevitable to comment on performances of players - we’d certa8nly do it if they played really well. What I don’t think is helpful is when the conversation/thread becomes criticism and negative - which serves absolutely no purpose at this point in the season. It’s such early days and OH is just stepping up to full time mens football, with players and a system he’s not used to. It’s almost inevitable that he’s going to take some time to ‘get up to speed’.

With regards to the rest - it’s pretty obvious that while they helped us get to where we are they will not be part of the journey long term.

Oh, I think Humphreys and Baggot stand a decent chance of being in McKenna's long term plans. And Leigh did his claim no harm either.

Omari is a season long loan which means we can develop him. Come the end of the year we will see a much more intune player.
My disappointment of the night was Evans - did not dominate or lead from the middle.

He let the ball go through his legs

I've watched it a few times on highlights. Looks to me like he gets a touch, tbf.. The ball deviates slightly.. It gets mentioned in Phil's report, too.
Think it will do him the world of good. And give him some confidence.
We should try and get behind him. The better he feels, the more confident and relaxed he'll feel. And then he'll hopefully settle quicker and play well. If we get the best out of him, which might take a month or two. There's an exciting player in the making..
No point looking for perfection, at this early stage, imo.

Classic straw-manning.

He wasn't bemoaning "talking about players" - he said the poster "was judging someone this early". Which is correct. Hutchinson's car tyres are still warm, it's way too early to make any conclusions.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
