Realistic McKenna replacements? 15:05 - Nov 3 with 6551 views | ChampionsofInnsbruck | I don't know if this one has been done before, and obviously this is just "for fun" speculation and I am not assuming he is going to leave but lets say the worst does happen and say Manchester United swoop in, who do we get? Some names for me would be: Mark Robins (Coventry) Nigel Clough (Mansfield) Dave Challinor (Stockport) Steven Schumacher (Plymouth) Michael Carrick (Middlesborough) Liam Manning (Oxford) Darren Moore (Huddersfield) I have included a couple of people in there that may be unexpected, such as Clough, the job Clough has done at both Burton and Mansfield suggests he's a good manager despite never really doing it in the Championship, Challinor has been superb at Stockport, Manning has had a good record in the lower leagues and obviously knows the club and stylistically would match what we're doing now. Carrick is probably the least realistic target but you'd hope he could slot into our system with our existing coaches. Robins is a manager I really rate and you can't ignore the work Schumacher has done at Plymouth either. Darren Moore although stylistically isn't the best suited, I do think he's a good manager and deserves a crack with a decent club. [Post edited 3 Nov 2023 15:06]

Realistic McKenna replacements? on 15:16 - Nov 3 with 4284 views | unstableblue | McKenna isn't going anywhere for at least 2.5 seasons in my view. From your list Schumacher and Manning I believe would come close to any of the club's criteria. Moore and Clough... absolutely zero chance.

Mine was for "not sure this has been done before" when I see this every week, and I only come on here every so often during weekdays.

People coming in just to abuse the OP... Sigh. There's nothing negative in the post. It's a valid, longterm hypothetical for a discussion.

It's a silly discussion though, isn't it? There's no suggestion he's going anywhere and the OP has form. But in respect of going for young Prem couches, you'd have to say that with McKenna it's been a case of sofa so good.

Realistic McKenna replacements? on 16:49 - Nov 3 with 3772 views | Vegtablue | Without commenting on the detail of this post, I listened to a podcast the other day that shone a light on the importance of succession planning. Admittedly the advocate worked not just in the sports analytics sector but specifically in the 'football manager advice for clubs' sector, yet it all made sense to me and surprisingly his experience told him few clubs engage in even modest planning before difficulties arise. Actively communicating with other coaches or agents during the good times wouldn't be appropriate, but you'd like to think at board level we are engaging in soft searches and utilizing data in order to best protect the competitive edge we enjoy today with Super McK. We should be doing this continuously with players outside the transfer windows after all; coaching staff are an equally vital and transitory commodity in football. I would like to think there is a longlist on an excel spreadsheet somewhere, which is routinely updated and which extends beyond the boundaries of the EFL. I don't wish to speculate on names personally because I don't find it cheery subject matter. I'm also unwilling to engage in the research that would be necessary to make meaningful suggestions.

I am sure it will also have similar criteria that identified McKenna and not just a list of those managers who have failed at this level in the past.

Thank you, I am glad that somebody isn't here just to stalk and harass people and has taken the thread for what it is. I think given how some of these posters purport to be from the "kinder" side of politics and yet devote time to actively trolling and bullying me on here is frankly bizarre! I can't post anything without them mobbing up on me.

What form? Other than you lot making up a lie that I support Norwich, or that I am some sort of woke race-baiter looking for attention? Which lie is it this week?

I think they will be happy that it isn't an email about the TWTD back benchers vying for supremacy on the "current affairs" posts for a change
