They defo didn't like it. Although we have sung YNWA a number of times including Wembley if my memory serves me right.

They’re the biggest supported club in Essex and there a bit of errr history. Doubt they care too much these days.

Not in the slightest but I don't really recall a great deal of vitriol from our side either. I always felt we had a fairly decent relationship with them, lots of reciprocal friendlies/testimonials over the years, the Lyall link etc. It got a little salty those two years we bumped into each other in the play-offs but that was mostly Pardew inspired.

Back in the day, the Evening Star would often reference the fixture as a local one, A12 neighbours, that sort of thing. Clearly, WHU have enough of a beef with half of London to worry about us. They just viewed us as a bit of a seaside jaunt.

Edit. Suppose I should mention for balance, bloody Mark Ward in '86.

Only annoying thing about that day was Barnsley fans were just starting to join then ref blew for end of match.
