i was there for the Inter game, but not the Southampton game. I can clearly say without even gone to the Southampton games it was Sarmiento's goal. I can't remember anyone going crazy when Armstrong scored.

It would, but unfortunately lost in the midsts of time, the only footage for youngsters to watch has no sound! But putting one over a team on its way to the European Cup Final having been a force in the English game for 10 years was something for little Ipswich. C.Thomas followed…. I like to think we again put Leeds reign to an end, they were never a force again after Paris. Of course, they could justifiably claim their own Thomas moments in that game, but still…

Sarmiento's by about 1000%. I know I always get a kicking when I mention this on here, but the Inter win means next to nothing to me. It wouldn't get in my top 20 Town moments since 1990.

I have supported the Town for over 70 years and seen all the ups and downs. Unfortunately, down to illness over the last two years, it happens when you get to my age, I saw the Sarmiento goal on Sky but the rush I got from that I will take with me to the crem! .
The goal at Filbert Street was a one off and if scored by one of the bigger clubs would have been highlighted a lot more times. Armstrongs goal was out of the blue, but we knew we were on a loss so loses its impact. Ted Phillips headed goal at White Hart Lane in 1962 and Marcus Stewart’s goal at Bolton when we looked lost were more defining.
I am not a great lover of TV football and only two goals have got me out of my chair, one was the Beats goal for England against Scotland and the other was Sarmiento’s.

Was at Filbert Street that night. Still one of my favourite games and was convinced we were going to win the Cup that year especially as we had already beaten Liverpool in the 4th round. Then we came up against a certain referee in the semi-final.

I was there too. Behind the goal where Woods scored in that tiny little stand. That was a great moment. Others are Magilton v Bolton, Reuser v Barnsley, Sarmiento of course, Wark’s killer goal v West Brom at Highbury, Osborne 1-0. The order for me is:
Wark Osborne Magilton Sarmiento Reuser
Honourable mention for Woods, Bent v Sheffield Utd, Bryan Gunn’s comedy moment, Megson’s bullet header, Gavin Johnson just for the mental moment, too many late goals last season to mention!
I was at the Inter game, but because we were struggling in the league somehow it wasn’t the moment it should have been, plus I knew we’d get battered in the second leg.

Take care of yourself ba :)
Thank you for the comment. Just played 18 holes of golf for the first time in a couple of months, pretty knackered but still alive and kicking. Happy that my team is looking down on you know who.

Agreed. It feels a bit like what we take the mick out of that lot over Bayern for. Given the remarkable euro nights we've had, the Inter game doesn't even register for me, especially given we lost the tie overall. Ditto the Arsenal semi.
