That's a poor opinion to be honest. Even if he gives us one great season and leaves. It might be enough to keep us up which is an extra what? £100m+?

Then you add the transfer fee we would get. A proven Premier League winger can fetch over £80m+ nowadays easily

Could be here a couple of seasons at least, who knows if Barca even want him.

Perfect for the player trading if so anyway.

Ashton will have a big £60mill release clause for Barcelona I reckon

I would. If it meant they sign him after two seasons it would have been because he's smashed it and we'd get a nice profit and would have benefitted from him helping us in the Prem.

If he's prepared to put in a couple of years hard work for Town, improving both our position and his value, before heading to Spain, that's fair enough by me - so long as it's understood by all. Something like an extended loan, but with the possibility of at least covering our costs at the end.

But not if he's going to want to be off after six months.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Or do a straight swap - Philogene to Barca and Yamal to Town with Gundogan as a makeweight.

He's clearly very ambitious and keen on his personal development. Now, I wonder which Premier League club offers the best opportunity and evidence of rapid progression of excellent young players... ?

Surprising how many people took that seriously really

Exactly this and just like Hull have to sell to build we may have to sign and sell to move forward ourselves. Progress is the key and I’d rather sign players who’s dream is Barcelona than let’s say M.Chopra who’s ambition is to pay off his next gambling debt. No offence meant to anyone struggling with addiction.

Dreams of playing for Barcelona.

Plans on playing for a Premier League team. Tears it up, goes to Barcelona, Premier League team profits. Nothing wrong with that. Ipswich would be a perfect stepping stone as such.

Whoosh or not, the maturity of Philogene and his agent is a bit concerning. I'm not sure I really want him at the club if this is what we're gonna get:

"When I grow up I want to play for Barcelona".

Bizarre

Barcelona aren't going to want him if he's playing badly for whoever he moves to. He'll need to prove himself at his new club.

If we have him for two years and he is deemed good enough to go to Barcelona then he will have performed very well for us.

Hey now, hey now, don't dream it's over

I remember Ipswich fans genuinely moaning when Roy Keane was appointed that he saw us as a stepping stone to Man U and seemingly didn't realise the quality of job he'd have to do to make that leap!

ridiculous, imagine how good he would have to be here in order for Barcelona to come calling. Not only would we get an unbelievable season or 2 out of him but also a massive transfer fee. Signing a player with lofty ambitions is hardly a bad thing, of course we would all want a decent player to stay forever but these players are not ITFC fans like us, if we can benefit from him and he benefits from us, then we reinvest a fortune.
