Let's call this what it is... 12:49 - Jul 16 with 6060 viewssjg

A money grab. Trying to sell as many memberships as possible to the detriment of atmosphere and in the face of loyal supporters.

How can someone that went to one home game last season get the same priority as someone who went to all 23? The away points system is less unfair but I would still be absolutely fuming if I went to 9 away games last year and effectively ended up with the same chance in the ballot as someone who has never been to one before.

That's the price we pay for Premier League football I suppose (pun intended)

Wasn’t that because Shirley from accounts and other employees got tickets? As in they never went on sale and the allocation for fans was only 1600 instead of 2000.

Do you not think the ballots will be full of Shirley's hoping to get to their first ever game after starting to follow us last season?

I’d rather they were in the ballot than being given a freebie by Ashton.

I don't think there will be, what was more likely was neutrals and other team's supporters, but unless they buy a membership now then they can't do that.
Used to hate sat in the Pioneer surrounded by Chelsea or West Ham fans.

I do agree though that the threshold for home tickets is probably a bit low, and perhaps designed to entice more memberships.

Having said that, I'm screwed due to not attending home one game under my own account last year, knew that would come back to bite me.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

If you went to 9 away games last year and had membership for both years, you will have no problem getting tickets.

Demand is greater than capacity, so I’m not sure what else they can do. Do you favour those who went most last year, or those who’ve been supporters the longest, or those who are youngest and the next generation of fans? All approaches will mean someone loses out. There’s certainly a commercialised element to it, but it’s a private service. And the cost of membership is far less than travel and/or accommodation many pay to attend games either home or away. The kit’s ‘only’ £60 compared to over £100 for some clubs, so things could be worse.

Not really sure we can really accuse the ownership of trying to grab money from us having just forked out £60mill on players

We don't half get some posters on here now we're in the Prem, upset about not being able to get tickets.

We didn't hear a thing from them when we were in League one, granted that its probably because they only started posting on here in the latter half of last season.

Its quite the thing.

As someone whose been supporting Town for decades, but due to family commitments and living more than 200 miles north of Suffolk, I'm unable to attend many games home or away, but until 2 years ago had no problem getting a ticket when I wanted. The system in place meant I only got to Southampton last year and so the new ballot gives me a chance no matter how small.

Does anybody who goes to 23 home games a season not have a season ticket (and therefore a guaranteed seat for all Prem matches at PR)?

It’s always been the way and is the same at other clubs. I’m disappointed to miss out, but try not to moan too much. I’ve made my choices to move over here, get hitched, support the kids in what they want to do, etc. So can’t complain (although starting to wish I’d become a monk or had the snip 18 years ago!). It’s a choice, as others who live just as far away prioritise the Town. I couldn’t handle the travelling though even if I hadn’t chosen other commitments. Not every week. It’d be nice to be able to see 5 or 6 games a season, but that looks unlikely. So be it.

I'm afraid anyone who thinks they should get special treatment is living in cloud cuckoo land. As a follower of Town for many years I suffered the failure to get into big games due to sell out's where glory hunters wanted to see the games. When although I went every home game they still got in ahead of myself. I didn't have a season ticket. But that's life I am afraid. Joe Bloggs money is the same as mine and when demand outweighs supply you will always come across this scenario.

Playing devils advocate, could the increase in ticket moans also be attributable to prior ease of picking up tickets, especially in L1 and largely Championship? It might be that fans on memberships, like me, who went to multiple games through those years and prior are now stuck in with the masses who have jumped on board back end of last season and start of this?

I do think this ballot idea is a reasonable middle ground, although the threshold should have been 5 games like the final game of last season.

Outside of a ballot, only option is a bigger stadium but that'd end up largely season ticketed so those complaining would continue to do so!

There is no winning with tickets when a team are going through a period such as Ipswich are.

I don't see why a system closer resembling the away ticket scheme couldn't be put in place to be honest

I for one am happy about the 1 home game rule, as although I went to 10-12 home matches last season they were spread out over different accounts.
Some tickets were bought on my account, some on friends with season ticket's accounts, 1 on both my kids membership accounts and also the free tickets we got with their Junior blues last season

It's Sheila from accounts. Shirley works in the post room. I do wish people would get their facts right before posting.
