This thread made me go and have a look at the team for the infamous 2-0 defeat at home to Stockport in 1997, when the crowd was 8,938. A few things to note:
Wright, Holland, Stockwell, Milton, Taricco and Mathie all started
We finished the game with Neil Gregory and David Whyte up front
Gary Megson was Stockport manager

Perhaps he didn't have a stellar line-up like Davin, Dougan, Bolton (he of the yellow gloves) in front of him up there.
According to a Scottish documentary on the truly great Jim Baxter, Thorburn and Baxter worked together as part-time miners. Some job that, to come up above ground to play professional sport. [Post edited 25 Jul 2024 18:54]
