I've never seen such a transformation of a player! Like others in this thread, I love big Cam and think he was our best defender last season!
Just as good on the ball as Woolfie... But is a better defender with it... He fitted back in so well, when he came back from the Asia cup! Didn't take long to get back up to speed! For me, he has to play, if fit... Greaves will also play, so how do we fit both in? 3 at the back? | | | |

I imagine there'll be plenty of rotation and opportunity. Greaves isn't just going to come in and start all 38 league games.
Who's to say we won't play three CBs occasionally?

Agree though it'll be sad to see Burgess play fewer games. He seems the ultimate organiser. For offsides I often base my opinion on whether it was or wasn't on his reaction and how confident he is that he played the trap well enough. |  |

I'm much more concerned about the rcb role and I'm really not sure we can play Greaves and Woolfenden in the same team. He really stepped up last year and I agree - our best defender. After Morsy, Davis, Hutchinson our best player? Not far away, anyway. Always assured, Burgess has a real size and presence about him.
However I believe you should select players to fit a system, not the other way round. So if Greaves is first choice (likely to be from what I saw) Burgess will have to play alongside or wait for his opportunity. |  | | |

I don't think it is a huge surprise in truth as his primary weakness is pace and if there is one league that would exploit that weakness more than any other it's the premier League. He has been absolutely brilliant though so it's harsh on him. It does look though that this will be Greaves position.

The reality is if we are to have a serious stab at staying up the same will be true of 80% of our squad. Would be great to see these guys keep up us but as McKenna himself said we need many more players. | | | |

Defence is our weakness, at the highest level.
Though they are all tremendous players, our 4 centre half's from last season have challenges:
Burgess, lack of pace.
Woolf, lack of strength, poor concentration at times
Axel, overall fitness and mobility
Edmundson, not comfortable on the ball, poor positioning
