On a reported £400,000 per week after tax. Average crowds are 8,500 so he’s getting that for playing in front of fewer fans than he did when he played for Peterborough. Obscene.

I think we can safely say £400k a week after tax is obviously the cut off point for sacrificing job satisfaction.

What a waste of talent. I really don't understand it, he could still be rich for the rest of his life whilst having a proper career at the top level of his profession. I'd expect the level to be similar to that of Felixstowe & Walton.

Given his perception as to how he was treated by the FA for the betting charge, I suspect he doesn't care one bit about the English game or the FA.

This was my thought.
On his day he can be a great player.
I guess that sort of money (if true. We don't know) is hard to turn down.
It would take me over 8 years to earn his weekly wage.
Sigh.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

that's mega hard to turn that down.

If one of the big boys came in for him, i suspect he would have got 100k - 150k a week. He's probably not earnt great money over his career, but a decent wage and this basically sets him up for life but feels too early in his career without a guarantee that he would be able to earn that in the future.

Strange how none of them did, especially given Brentford were open to lower offers. Just think his age counted against him, big outlay with no resale value. Clubs are really tightening the belt due to PSR (Chelsea aside)

What are the saudis trying to achieve by spending billions on slightly past it players to waltz around in their joke of a league. I know they have more money than they know what to do with but still.

Why?

What's the point of earning £20m per year rather than £5m per year whilst selling your soul?

when i've seen him he can't press effectively, good player but a bit immobile off the ball imo for the top clubs.

That is my thinking. What can he do with that grotesque amount of money that he couldn't already do with the ridiculous amount of money he'd make in a proper league? I bet he's already rich enough to have a swimming pool.

Pretty similar, actually. Importing Messi is the worst thing they can do as it makes the league some kind of Harlem globetrotters circus. They should introduce promotion and relegation but the owners are too scared to do that.

I watched St Louis v LA Galaxy yesterday it was like watching a L1/low Championship match with the exception of the established pre retirement players like Reus and Yoshida.

No time at all for the despots running that country. But who here really has a clear conscience? Many will have gone on holiday and stayed in a hotel in Dubai where indentured migrant workers died building it. Some think they are helping climate change whilst driving an MG which is owned by, and directly funding the Chinese state who are brutalising uhygurs.

Virtually everyone is guilty of hypocrisy in some such way. For me Henderson was worse given his previous advocacy for LGBT community.

Don't know what his answer is, but mine would be that you only have to 'work' for a quarter as long.

It's more like a short term rent of the soul than selling it.
