Clearly I've misread it before but wasn't there a rule about a home grown player has to be in your match day squad?

We tend not to put a central defender on the bench whoever it is, to give us more attacking options. Phillips can drop in there in an emergency.

I think it means through an English club system vs the actual club

Johnson is on the bench. So Tuanzebe can go into the centre too, and I'd imagine before Phillips.

What is the story with Woolfie? Is he injured? At the press conference McKenna mentioned how he was going straight to a meeting with a new player to tell him what he needs from him in the style we play; I thought at the time it had to be someone coming back from International duty, so likely to be O'Shea coming in. I also thought it was odd that he would mention it at the press conference. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Their Fulham team was one out but seemed so certain re Woolfie. Can’t see another post such as that remaining. [Post edited 14 Sep 2024 14:05]

TEAM on 14:04 - Sep 14 with 3375 views | Vic | Pleased to see Burns straight back in - he really is key to the way we play. (We never seem to do as well without him). As per another thread - the bench is a seriously good (at least cp to what we’ve had so far this season) and means there should be no serious drop offs in quality when we make subs. A real bonus for the way we play. Really looking forward to seeing how we do now we’ve a full strength squad.

TEAM on 14:05 - Sep 14 with 3341 views | HighgateBlue | Very happy with that side. With the exception of JClarke coming in when he’s on Song, or for certain games, I have this down as the intended first XI for most games. Hoping that O’Shea settles into the XI quickly, and Muric continues to settle in after a challenging start.

Only two of our players don’t qualify as home grown.

Luongo and Cajuste? Muric was still young enough when he joined Man City to count as home grown?

Last season in the league, when Edmundson started without Woolfenden, then the latter was on the bench. However, we have no cover on the pitch at full back whilst Tuanzebe can move to the middle of needed.

Ogbene is the other one. Luongo was a youth player at Spurs.

Every time the likes of Burns or Hirst come back from injury, I always think "too soon, give them one more week's recovery". I do, however, realise that if they did get that extra week's recovery, then how would I know and the week after I'd be thinking "too soon, give them one more week's recovery". I realise that I'm a nervous ninny.

Wouldn't have thought injured. Happened last year as well. Line up picked to counter other team or manager just realised oshea and Greaves are better players.
