How do you feel about the re-election of Trump? on 21:43 - Nov 6 by iamatractorboy
I'm not terrified for myself, but there wasn't an option for 'disgusted, and terrified for many others'. So 'terrified' it is.
Indeed, there are always many nuances.
However, the poll does seem to confirm what I had always thought, that this forum is a far broader mix of political views than what some have us believe that it is some radical left-wing sounding board with a lone voice of right of centre sanity here or there.

To be honest he's been elected president of a foriegn country so there's not a lot we can do about it life hopefully will go on
Whilst this is true, it is going to impact the world that we live in fairly significantly. Hopefully, far less negatively than many suppose.
Personally, I fear for Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. I think it won't be good for the UK that the US will become far more insular either. It matters much less to me that it will be bad for US citizens but I do feel sorry for those who will lose out most. However, I recognise that some of the hysteria is over-hyped (not least because you can never trust a lot of what he says). I don't think it is ever good for any power to have few checks and balances and for him/his party to have control over the separate instruments won't be great in my view.
I think Angry is probably the word. Im angry that we live in the world where a man who in almost every other walk of life would be unilaterally loathed is again the leader of the free world.

I’d like to know why people Are terrified 😂
Depends whether he starts dismantling NATO, on top of disrupting the world's trade patterns, stoking war in the Middle East or starting one with China.
The possibilities are distinctly alarming.
That's not to say they'll come true. He may do none of those things. But you can never be entirely sure with Trump.
It's likely also pretty terrifying if you've only been living and working in the USA for a short while. Or if your business relies on exports to America which could be loaded with tariffs.

Don't worry Sir Kier, Lammy and Rachael Reeves will sort him out and put him on the correct path.

Because it is going to embolden Putin, and could spell the end of NATO.
I'm also devastated on behalf of my American friends, especially the women.
The majority of American men took an action to choose a legally confirmed sexual predator as the leader of their country, and to effectively give him immunity from prosecution for his sexual assaults. So I'm disgusted, too.
But back to terrified: anyone who watched any of his rambling speeches with any degree of distance will be aware that he is an off-the-scale narcissist who has entered cognitive decline. And he has been emboldened after the Republicans in Congress failed to hold him to account for his actions after he lost the last Election. And he has been elected for a second and final time, so he has no further accountability to the electorate.
An emboldened, unaccountable, narcissistic, sexual predator in cognitive decline in charge of the nuclear codes is a terrifying prospect.

It also significantly diminishes the (already feeble) chances of humanity keeping global temperature rises under 2-.2.5C, which really dwarfs all of that in terms of potential repercussions.

The Biden-Harris administration didn't exactly cover themselves in glory at COP 26.

How about disappointed, which is how I feel?
I'm at really depressed.
Not in a way that means I'm personally going into a hole of depression, buy I'm genuinely despondent about the human race in general. Humans are dreadful.
For clarity this isn't me saying Trump voters are scum, more a reflection on humans all over the globe, especially those with power, being so utterly driven by greed or the lust for more power. The world is fooked from a climate and preservation perspective, and we're seeing people slaughted around the world because of greed/ideology/stupidity.
This is just another step on that journey.
I'm glad I don't have kids.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

They have minimal influence over Trump. He is more likely to listen to people like Stephen Miller - which should alarm anybody who isn't a white nationalist.

Good summary. I guess in addition to Guthrum’s (still think you should rename yourself Athelstan as he did) post, I feel bemusement. It’s very strange that he should be allowed anywhere near that job. But that’s the US I suppose.
