Just coming out the Arsenal 22:52 - Dec 27 with 4999 views | Mullet | Hard to know what to make of that. A defeat is a defeat, Wolves really rubbed salt into the wound yesterday too. Phillips is an enigma. The quality was there tonight, it’s all about his belief isn’t it? He looked at it and fancied it and it makes a difference, he and Cajuste really stand out. Likewise, we changed the defence and looked really well drilled. The shape, the movement, the job on odegaard deserved more. But that goal was disappointing, woolfy made a bizarre decision for me, Johnson sends his man the right way an average cross comes in, and Woolfy looked to me like he could have headered it. You could see Arsenal getting frustrated and there were moments you felt the corruption conspiracy theories might make sense. Fouls and 50:50s just not going our way ever. There are also some people turning up to games forgetting players like Saliba and Gabriel are up there with anyone right now. Delap, Omari et al aren’t just going to blast through them no matter how much we wanted them to. Hearing them slating and getting on the backs of our lot was disappointing. Hopefully I just got unlucky to be close enough to hear it all game. Whilst it feels like we might be getting forced back down by the sheer weight of the task to survive, I did think there was a flexibility from McKenna tactically and in terms of mental attitude we’ve not seen at this level. Whether it was pragmatism from who was available or the humbling from Newcastle, it felt a very different team to the one that crumpled at West Ham for example. As for the emirates, that was my first visit. You can see why people love this type of stadium, it’s all very computer game looking, there’s a bit of a theme park feel with the different overpriced kiosks and toilet blocks outside etc but the tourists and the like is not for me. I didn’t even use my padded seat because people came over for a chat at half time. As for that dreadful song they sing at kickoff…… made the Etihad feel like Galatasary away.

Just coming out the Arsenal on 23:05 - Dec 27 with 4040 views | Swansea_Blue | I’ve always found the Emirates soulless and lacking a proper football crowd. Although that’s increasingly common everywhere now and mainly only enjoyed in away ends. So many trippers, families, hooray henries, etc. I’m not sure Woolfie could have got his head anywhere near that - it seemed at waist height if I remember, but will need to see it back. The first CB did only narrowly miss it, I assume that was Woolfie and could have possibly done better to cut it out, but it was a well placed cross with some pace. Havertz drifted in between Greaves and Leif. Too little, too late by Leif to close Havertz down but he also had another man, so really I think it was Greaves switching off to him that was the bigger issue. Let’s just say we could have defended it better as a unit.

That's a bit on greaves, Needed to be a foot at least further back would then have been more difficult,

I thought he flicked his foot around head height but fair enough. Not seen it back yet.

Duran had his appeal for yesterday’s sending off at Newcastle rejected within 24 hours yet we are still waiting on the decision for Cunha’s laughable appeal. I | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Yeah, maybe tough. I don’t recall him being aware the Havertz had found the space (he doesn’t look around) and he was hitting the floor afterwards as if he knew he’d ballsed. Nobody else was there, so it has to be his man imo. But yes, credit for the pass it was a good cross and great timed run.

Just coming out the Arsenal on 23:23 - Dec 27 with 3624 views | cbower | Woolfy should have done better with cross to be honest. He got his body shape all wrong but other than that, he did fine. Same for Greaves. Body shape wrong forctye goal but generally ok. As Matty Holland said, first half our shape was good, just our execution when we got possession was very poor. 2nd half, as McKenna observed, we got into plenty of decent positions but eitger made poor decisions or were not brave enough to create a good chance. I'd like to see the formation develop more over a few games. Johnson doesn't offer enough for me. Harry Clarke could thrive in that formation. Where would Axel fit? O'Shea central, Axel right, Greaves / Burgess left would be my choice. Phillips and Cajuste looked good but Morsy still has to be in there, doesn’t he? Hutch is the outlet, just tonight his decision making was generally miles off. I wantvto see him drive at the box whenever he can far more. I love what Delap offers but the one thing George Hirst does better than him is hold the ball up. Tonight that would have been pricekess. Szmodics works so hard but he looks half a yard short sometimes. Jack Clarke needs something to go right. Taylor could really be the surprise for me if he were to get a run. Broady gives us something in the positions he finds. Muric was decent. Leif was ok defensively but had a few opportunities to put the ball in and messed it up. All in all, there's something to build on with this shape. Could hear Town fans quite a bit on TV.

It’s an absolute joke. Hard to understand why the club haven’t been publicly more vocal about this, shrugging shoulders seems odd when there is so much at stake for a relegation rival.

Quite a lot I agree with here, would like to see us give that formation a go for a while as we looked solid at the back. I think Axel can play that right sided role just fine, no need for Harry. O'Shea all day long for me on the right as he can play right back and rotated out there well tonight when Johnson was challenging further up the flank. Plus any 2 of Woolfy, Burgess and Greaves for the rest of the 3 centre backs. Cajuste is class, and Phillips shows every now and again that he is too. Pinged a few precision long balls tonight as the game went on. We all love Morsy, he's a legend, he plays the right ball 99% of the time but in the Prem, often not quick enough. Not sure how the future pans out with the 2 loan players but would be lovely for them to be our future midfield 2. Agree about Taylor too. He almost looks more comfortable in the Prem than the Championship. But having waxed lyrical about Phillips and Cajuste, where does he play? Agree re Hutch, want to see him drive at his full back cut inside and curl a few into the top bin like last season. Leif good defensively tonigth, but the one chance we got to swing the ball in from a corner didn't beat the first man again. Interesting to see if KM plays this system against Chelsea, who like Arsenal, can stick a few goals past you in the blink of an eye.

Just coming out the Arsenal on 07:40 - Dec 28 with 2688 views | PioneerBlue | A defeat is a defeat but there are positives to take as outlines. I don’t know that we really have that much more to come in the short term from our forward players. Wolfy really is built for that role, foot on ball. He needs more to be happening in front if we are going down this road more regularly and perhaps with different opposition we see DoS support more as a right back which allows BJ to get higher up also. We need more strength and power in the midfield and forward positions to concern any opposition at this level. I’m really hoping we achieve surprise results in Jan. We are leaving ourselves a monumental task in the second half of the season, logic already says it’s too big a mountain to scale but we keep going to May.

Just coming out the Arsenal on 08:00 - Dec 28 with 2618 views | BseaBlue | 'Corporate' is the best way to describe that stadium. Made to be a venue rather than a football stadium. RE the goal, I actually think it's Johnson and O'Shea at blame. Johnson gets done for the cross and O'Shea who is doubling up guesses that he is cutting in so makes no attempt to block. Stop the cross, stop the goal. Bang on about the tactical flexibility. We need to play the same way at home though and add some much needed quality pretty much all the way accross the front line.

We did a good job most of the game, I agree 100% there It's that one lapse across the game which has cost us sadly but it was always going to be a game where we had to be perfect
