Either a very expensive mistake

Or one we really really are developing into a very versatile player but will take 2/3 seasons to be it..

He'll look great in the Championship no doubts, you do wonder if he needs a loan and we find someone a bit more ready right now

I think he will come good but it may take a season or so before we see the best from him

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Why loan him? He wasn't bought for that.
He looks a little lost imo

That's why I would loan him

There's a player in there but we really should have got more end product from him by now, that's my concern

He does have the ability to play this level but never seems to quite understand our system enough to be effective

He'll look a million dollars in the Championship when he gets a bit more time and space and could easily shoot us back to the Prem if we do end up going down

A couple of times tonight he tried to cut inside to get a shot off as he did all day in the Championship. The thing is he's now dealing with Premier League defenders who just blocked him all the way.

He'll work it out. I do feel he seems to be getting a bit more confident.

He could only be loaned to Sunderland this season due to the 2 club rule. Personally, I think he'll come good here.

He looks out of his depth, and it looks like his mum cut his hair. Hopefully he’ll come good on both fronts

I’m surprised we’ve not looked at him on the right just a little bit with injuries etc. I know he’s less known for that position but our RW is far less complicated than our L10 position and it has the advantage of a more stay at home defender behind meaning it come with slightly less defensive responsibilities in certain games (not all). He might be more productive crossing from that position who knows.

And he is (rightly) only getting limited game time, so the learning curve against PL defenders is tougher. Davis also took extra touches a couple of times when he had time for a cross but I don't see him getting pelters.

He’s very talented and will fine. He’s not as complete a player as I thought he was watching him at Sunderland, but there’s a lot to his game and more to come. He will learn.

It has to be remembered he’s playing in a struggling team, often in a position he is not used to. Has he progressed at Omari’s rate? No. But then doing that in the PL is a lot more difficult than the wide open spaces of the New Den. Has he settled into the club and the area? Only he can answer that.

It can be a gamble to sign a player with the intention of playing him in a different role than he is used to.

Will come good just isn’t getting enough minutes at the moment. Having said that think Broadhead will start against Chelsea.

That's what Spurs did when they bought him for the Prem, sent him out on loan to improve. Eventually he ended up with Sunderland permanently, had a fantastic season in the Championship and we bought him for the Prem. Now the circle has been formed again.

I don't understand the point of sending him out on loan to the championship, we all know he can do it at championship level. The question is can he do it at PL level or is he one of those players whoes max level is championship?

Personally I think he can make the grade but not this season and I'm starting to think he was purchased purely with relegation in mind and next season in the championship.

How we deploy Davis & how ingrained that is in our team does impact the space available to him, which is different to his wing play at Sunderland; it's not insurmountable for a player with his talent, but it does take an adjustment, which is difficult when facing quality PL defenders all the time.
He looks nervous & unsure, after having a tough reintroduction to this level, although there were some good signs last night too.
The big thing that has disappointed me with him (so far) is how easily he is knocked off the ball; whether he needs to bulk up a bit, or just show a bit more strenght, belief & aggression in the challenge is a question for the coaches, but he definitely needs to do more in retaining possession if he is going to prove himself a Premier League footballer.

He lost possession, on average, 18 times a game last season in the championship.

That's often one of the stats that prevents a prem move.

He also scored 15 goals, was their outstanding player by a mile and one of the best in the Championship. That often gets you a move to the Premier League.

You can argue it both ways.

Yeah but on counts. Things will be harder in the prem.

So the goal scoring one is hard enough let alone if you're losing the ball 18 times a game in the champ. Well you're not going to find it easier going up...

Difficult one,
He is a very good player,
He seems to be having trouble adjusting,
Lack of serious game time I'd expect,

I'm sure he's trying and we probably haven't made it easier for him with changing the player he was. But for that amount of money it looks like an absolute waste at the moment. Hopefully it's a bargain come 2/3 years time.

Agreed. If we go down I reckon that’s when he becomes worth his weight in gold if we can hang onto him (which we probably can based on his performances so far). We’re far more likely to keep him than hutch or Delap.

That’s moot anyway, as we’ll have a barnstorming second half of the season. He just needs to be patient and work hard behind the scenes. He’ll get plenty of chances even if only from the bench.

So you’re saying that MK and MA knew that stat and just disregarded it? Or maybe they knew the stat and thought we can work with him and improve him?

Or are you saying those who signed him are just incompetent?
