Blimey - Sheffield Wednesday might not be competitive next season then 18:15 - Apr 16 with 5857 viewsWarkystache

Just heard from a friend that they had a supporters trust meeting yesterday with their owner, Dejphon Chansiri, and 'may be going into administration with at least a 15 point deduction before the season starts'.

He can't afford to pay players all summer apparently. Sounds like we got off lightly with Marcus Evans?

I spoke with a Wednesday ST holder today. He thinks they'll 'do a Reading' as the word is that Chansiri won't sign NDAs with any of the parties interested in buying the club. He also wants his money back, rather than what the club's currently worth.
Nobody is paying £150m for the Owls.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Proper club there that deserves better. Maybe they could get some advice from Dagenham and Redbridge who have just teamed up with an, erm, Egyptian YouTuber. What could possibly go wrong?

Yes, fantastic support and a decent club.
Wouldn’t bat an eye lid to Reading going but Wednesday I hope pull through this.

Got off lightly with Evans? Isn’t that a bit like saying it’s better to be slowly starved to death than poisoned?

Granted Evans is not the nut job Chansiri is, but we were still beyond fortunate to be rid of him.

As for Wednesday, it’s a proper football club with good support that deserves better.

Past tense.

They were a proper club with decent support.

Now they’re a bin fire with a run-down stadium and the last few times we’ve played there, some of their supporters have let the club down badly,

Wasn’t it the Wednesday fans that kept ambushing elderly away fans in peoples gardens and kicking them in the last couple of seasons? Sounds like they’re getting just what they deserve.

Living in Sheffield you’d understand the sort of fanbase they are

Not good to see as a football fan but if it were to happen to any club other than those in Norfolk ……

Exactly - not a fan of the club at all. They have a large number of despicable fans - not just when we have played them.

Mocking dead children - was just a couple of bell ends who were banned and evoked disgust from the vast majority of Wednesday fans.

When there’s a big fan base, unfortunately there is always a few idiots who spoil it for the rest.

Let’s face it we’ve not free from this - the Justin Fashanu song for example.

We were lucky to have Evans. And we are *incredibly* lucky to now have the Phoenix crew. Chances of success in football club ownership must be less than 5%. Given that, you're always likely to attract charlatans who, when they don't get success/their own way, could easily run the club into the ground, sucking the soul out of it in the process.

There's a chance we could have ended up in League Two by now if the takeover hadn't happened.

Yes, that was every single Wednesday fan on the planet. Do you actually know anyone who supports Wednesday?

Do we deserve to go into administration because some of our fans attacked a pensioner and put him hospital last season at Cardiff? No of course we don’t.

One of theirs also directed a monkey impression at Kasey Palmer last season at Hillsborough - a sizeable sh!t list amassed over the past couple of years really, one to rival any English club.

I don't hold their fans in high regard like some on here but then I was born in the 90s (missed the period when they were presumably a force). Most of them deserve so much better than Chansiri though!

I also remember a group chanting some despicable stuff at Bryan Gunn after he lost his daughter to illness in the early 90s.
