Are they the best in the world in their own career? Or even in the top 1%?
These boys are punching well above their weight. Many of them weren’t ever signed to play at this level (Burgess, Davis, Morsy, Hirst etc), yet have got there from their sheer exceptional over performance.
OF COURSE, they make mistakes. They’re playing the absolute ELITE of world football, who just beat Real Madrid a few days ago.

Some of the forced positivity has been a bit grating but there are several people who have spent the whole season self-hating and slagging off the players and/or the fans at every opportunity they get.
First season in the Prem for 2 decades and they've wasted it being complete melts. Shame really. |  |

I enjoyed the walk-outs at 3-0.
As if 2-0 with 10 men against one of the best teams in Europe was salvageable up to 3-0…

We have revisionists, armchair managers and sales of FM this that and the other must be sky high to ITFC supporters. Those who attend games are by and large realistic and mostly supportive. Plenty who don’t are not.
No perspective, patience, just demands and an insatiable appetite to destroy our players one by one. Do other clubs fans do that? I doubt they do to our level, but since I don’t comb other forums, I might be wrong
You are spot on Chris_ITFC. We are punching above our weight individually and collectively. The Arsenal team was all one touch, fluid movement. They were strong and know where they were supposed to be. If they lost the ball, two would win it back. No two touches necessary, first time passes, passer running into space. They could play a patient game or accelerate like no tomorrow.
Our players tried. They really did, but they were literally outclassed from the first minute. Chasing shadows.
Bitterly disappointed, but it is what it is. It’s not shocking or embarrassing. Giving up would be and they didn’t do that.
For the sending off, I was the other side of the pitch so didn’t really see the challenge. I saw the Arsenal players getting ‘looked after’ by ref and Lino before that, including a professional foul that should have got a yellow and a dive not spotted by either.
I also saw Saka rolling and leaping like a speared salmon. Agony. Must be stretcher and inflatable leg bags job thought I. But nope, as soon as the red was waved, he was up and off like Desert Orchid. Lazarus take a back seat. It was a miracle. That’s why he got stick from the crowd including me. It may have deserved a red since as we know football is non contact now, but acting to make sure a player is sent off? Don’t like it.
It didn’t affect the result though. Overall, hacked off about how far short we’ve been. Learn the lessons, take the punishment, fight and come back stronger. It’s better than revisionism, the gift of hindsight and hounding individuals for me.

It would be naive to think the fans are going to be partisan - it’s been a tough season, lots of mistakes have been made on and off the pitch.
Of course there needs to be a balance to that, to acknowledge how far we have come, and how quickly.

I for one have considered myself very fortunate to be a town supporter for over sixty five years, not least during the last three years that delivered us from the dross that went on pre McKenna.
So fortunate and proud to support Town. Of course I would have liked a bit more success this year to have a chance of staying up but all in all I am happy with the effort that has been made.
I can only think that some of those on here ,who do nothing but criticise and denigrate our players, must live very sad and frustrated lives. I can think of no other reason for the bile that they spew out at every opportunity. Better that than they beat their wives I suppose …… but perhaps they do both. [Post edited 20 Apr 20:13]
