Not sure what people expect to be honest. The lad from Chelsea would have been good but we're not going to get better than Hirst to come in as a number 2 striker. Realistically there doesn't seem to be many forwards on the market in our sweet spot. Maybe the big lad from Millwall would have been good but is he going to come in and play second fiddle.
Akpom is a coming with lots of experience and hardly over the hill at 29/30. If we go up I'm sure we can shift him out for a couple of million so seems like a reasonable deal. [Post edited 4 Aug 2025 18:04]

I think this point of view is missed a lot with our entire squad tbh.
This squad, quality wise , is significantly more talented than the promotion winning side of 23/24.
We just need that momentum/belief the L1 squad had on promotion which Birmingham will have in bundles |  | | |
