How many players have come to us with bad opinions over the years and turned into heroes?
At the end of the day he kept Bournemouth up in his first season which was unexpected and could be said he laid the foundations for where they are now.
I can see that happening here, he keeps us up, maybe by the skin of our teeth, we start poorly in 27/28 and he goes early on. |  |

I keep saying that every manager we would have employed comes with failures, otherwise they are either a.) leading PL managers that we cant get to b.) a risk from a poorer league.
We cannot understate the importance of the stability that ITFC have continually preached around the manager, transfers, strategy etc, that should be the sort of environment that allows managers to breathe and do their best work. Maybe GON will too. | | | |

I don't think it was at all concerning.
He basically just said he thought other managers would have kept that squad up in a division where Leeds/ Leicester & Soton all had bad years.
It might be true but it also might not be true.
What I would say is it's very easy to be disparaging about the manager who kept you up when you're now playing great football and competing for Europe.
The simple fact is, that wouldn't be the case if it was not for GON.
He's a far more experienced manager now and If we trend in even a vaguely similar direction then this appointment will have been a huge huge success. | | | |

O'Neil is a young manager who has twice shown he can keep a side up in not easy circumstances. He seems to like the tactical side of the game and did a ok job in France. Maybe it's perfect timing for both he needs us like we need him and both can grow together. He'll never have a better opportunity to build something so good luck . He'll need it and us to take us where we all want to be. |  | | |

It is interesting in that season at Bournemouth, things really came alive after the January transfer window*, when O'Neil had the chance to sign players he wanted.
This season, O'Neil will have virtually all of the summer transfer window, plus a full pre-season to set up his squad.

But for me you can’t ignore some of these points of view, of people who know more about O’Neil than us.
I’ll be backing GON all the way.
This is a 8.5 maybe 9/10 first presser - impressed. BACK THE LEADER by unstableblue 23 Jun 16:38I’ve been somewhat sceptical about this appointment.
But given the lack of any credible alternatives and given how well he has articulated his plans and his ethos AND what is clearly an early understanding of Ipswich and Suffolk.
I’m impressed.
I’m also sensing that the process has had a depth we didn’t give the club credit for.
We’ll only make 17th if we come to gather now and back O’Neil.
I also liked what I’m hearing about culture and player relationships.
And finally there is a likability and intelligent coming through very strongly.

Exactly - the Semenyo interview is a huge plus.
And I was speaking to a Bournemouth fan who was upset with many others when he was dismissed after keeping them up - having said that the new manager appointment was also seen as inspired.
I think some of the Wolves fan and pundit negativity relates to him losing the dressing room, he won’t have some of those characters of culture here.

There are certainly some warning signs, but we've little choice than to give him time and judge him on his own merits while he's here. He's on a bit of a hiding to nothing though imo given the challenge this season whoever the manager would have been. |  |
