Bournemouth then 18:03 - Nov 6 with 1708 viewsGlasgowBlue

They are no mugs. I know we are at home but we are very fragile defensively so I would start the same formation as we did against Man City.

Walton
O'Shea
Diop
Greaves
Ouattara
Davis
Lukić
Palacios
Maeda
Enciso
Flemming

Thoughts?

....him playing that formation at home in any game.

Personally I think the only potential changes would be to personnel, with Lukic and hopefully Maeda coming in for Florentino and Philogene.

Maeda offers more defensively than Jaden and having Lukic back gives us more solidity in the middle with Palacios able to play a more advanced role than he has recently.

Whatever GON does, any kind of result will be a bonus, Bournemouth are on fire at the moment.

Keaton, Kint, McManus, Fenster and Hockney.

Not sure we would play 5 at the back at home.

Flemming for me would have to be showing more positive signs and having an impact on games before starting.

1-1 is my prediction.

We scored two goals at the Etihad playing that system. It's not negative having an extra central defender allows Davis and Ouattara to attack the flanks.

That's the changes I'd like to see too.

Bournemouth are on great form, but this is still a home game against a team that we need to target for points, albeit I'm under no illusion this will be a tough one.

4 or 5 at the back, it is a very tough assignment.

Think we should play Maeda on the right for this one. Bournemouth have Truffert and Tavernier down the left so we need pressing and solidity to combat that threat. Fleming and Clarke off the bench if we're still in it after an hour.

I think it'll be a highscoring game and hopefully we edge it. Rayan's shots in the box stats and Evanilsons goal threat are not great reading for us.

Obviously I hope Bournemouth cease to exist as they deserve.

If we are going a bit more defensive at home then I would bolster midfield rather than defence. A sort of 4-1-2-3 with Mats playing the screening role rather than bringing Greaves in. Probably still prefer Emersonn rather than Flemming, but it would be interesting to see what Flemming has to offer.

I reckon it will be the same as last time but with Maeda for Philogene or Fatawu and Lukic for Florentino.

I’m struggling with us at the moment.

I’d like to see more of Scherpen. Why pay shed loads for a new keeper if we’re going to bin him after 3 or 4 games infront of a temporary defence?

Ouattara and Leif are nailed on. I’m not 100% convinced by the balance of O’Shea and Diop, nor which way around they should play.

Lukic and Palacios if fit, but Fiorentina has been good.

Maeda is the starter on the left for me every time, but I’m less certain about Fatawu even if he’s the best option out of our right wingers.

Enciso obviously. Up front again I’m struggling. Emerson’s work rate is good, but he’s starting to struggle for numbers and we know we have a proven goal scorer in Flemming who will need a run of games if he’s to get up to speed.

100% get Maeda in, Lukic if fit and go for them from the off.

It’s only 5 at the back when out of possession, otherwise just the 3 sit, with the full backs pushing on, so quite attacking.

Emersonn needs a rest up top, need goals and he’s not the answer just yet.

I'd go with that. Got to do something different against a very good, in form side.

Ouattara and Davis wide will give them a problem.

I like Emmerson but he has the same number of goals as Flemming and Chuba despite having started every game almost. That said his prior goal scoring record tells us he's not a prolific striker.

Would be interesting to see what Flemming could do from the start and how a defence would deal with Emmerson's physicality when tiring at end of games.

He's not there to just score goals though as counterintuitve as that sounds. He's there to break up teams, to give us an outlet, to play off Enciso etc we aren't a strong enough team yet to simply turn up and outscore teams.

Tough tough game.
But if we can get a win it will be a real big one as forest ,Sunderland and palace have not got much chance of beating their opponents this weekend

Quirkie - game is tomorrow 2pm, Sunday! Hope you’re not travelling up from Cornwall (as per avatar) as we speak!!

Agree on defensive concerns, The Cherries front four could be argued to be the best in the league at the moment. They’ll exploit the space between centre back and full backs, and run at Diop and Oshe… it’s a big game for Lukic and Palcios they are the solution with Fatawu and Maeda knowing when to sit and when to break.

Could be cagey.

He’s primarily there to score goals, he plays in the 9!

Time for a rest.

Why not try and get better with our preferred system instead of throwing away the playbook? Maybe it's individual errors and not the system. Try and ut out the individual errors.
We're not on a 5 game losing streak.

I'm OK with trying to win matches and losing. We can afford to lose more matches than we win, because we're not going for the title or Champions League places... we're going for 17th or better.

This will be a real tough one, any points from this would be an achievement. Bournemouth are so good at the moment, but likewise we are better equipped than we were a couple of years ago to face games like this. Could be a lot of goals.

O’Shea struggled against a defensive minded Iroegbunam running at him…I dread to think how he’ll fair against Rayan.

A draw would be an outstanding result.
