Should FA Cup semi finals be held at Wembley? 19:28 - Apr 7 with 2971 views | christiand | Just think it takes the edge and gloss off the final. We’ve got some wonderful stadia around the country that could easily cope with demand. Thoughts?

Should FA Cup semi finals be held at Wembley? on 19:35 - Apr 7 with 2316 views | PJH | No. One of the joys of making an F.A. Cup Semi Final was the chance of getting to Wembley. Highbury 1978 was a great day not least because when Warky nailed that thirrd goal we knew that we were going to Wembley.
Should FA Cup semi finals be held at Wembley? on 19:37 - Apr 7 with 2313 views | RonFearonsHair | The four losing quarter-finalists should be put into a separate pot. For each semi-final, one of those is also picked and that is where it is held.

Old Trafford and Villa park seemed like common venues for the semi finals during the Old Wembley days if I remember correctly?

Although there is some truth to this statement, the England team are starting to tour the country. If England internationals don't need to be played at Wembley I don't understand why semi finals need to be played there.

Should FA Cup semi finals be held at Wembley? on 19:51 - Apr 7 with 2268 views | clive_baker | No. If you’re winning at Wembley you should be walking up those steps to lift a trophy. Having the semis there really detracts from the final IMO.

There are more than enough decent stadiums around the country, to play it relatively close to the 2 clubs at a neutral venue. 2 Northern teams = Old Trafford, Etihad, Anfield , St Jame's Park, Elland Road. 2 Midland teams or 1 Northern / 1 Midlands / 1 Southern and 1 Northern / 1 Midlands / 1 London / 1 Southern = Villa Park, Elland Road, Hillsborough, Emirates, White Hart Lane. 1 or 2 Southern / 1 or 2 London / 1 Midlands = Emirates or Tottenham.

Wasn’t the Spurs vs Arsenal semi final in 1991 held at Wembley because of the volume of demand? That decision seems to have set the tone 28 years later here we are.

I'm sure some of those teams would relish a semi-final at the Den

Should FA Cup semi finals be held at Wembley? on 20:50 - Apr 7 with 2122 views | Basuco | My first thought was no, then after looking at the great atmosphere created by so many fans of Watford and Wolves today I am also thinking there would be a lot fewer from each club if it had been held at Villa Park or Old Trafford. Arguments both ways with money ultimately having the final say, as always in today's football world.

I daresay if you take out the fairly big number of corporate/club member seats at Wembley, then the share per club would (at a guess) be around 35,000 each. Old Trafford holds 72,000+, so would easily cope with 35,000 per club. The Emirates and the new Spurs ground each hold 60,000+ - again plenty for a semi-final.

Non Wembley semis for me too........ Olympic stadium and maybe Chelsea once their place gets sorted out in the future if Arsenal and Spurs ended up drawing each other. I doubt Hillsborough would ever be considered again. Totally left field one ....... Twickers ? [Post edited 7 Apr 2019 22:14]
