Remainers of the board... 18:00 - Jan 30 with 8715 views | bluelagos | How are you planning on seeing in our imminent EU departure tomorrow night? Think I'll just have an early night and make sure I am not watching any current affairs / news programs. So classic head in sand approach for me. You guys?

I'm doing something similar. Have a friend coming down from Manchester to visit, going out for some food. He's actually a Leaver, but not the kind to crow about it.

Remainers of the board... on 18:50 - Jan 30 with 3284 views | tractordownsouth | As they’ve been telling us that Brexit is ‘done’ tomorrow I’ll be spending the day asking where our £350m, fancy new trade deals and new fishing quotas are? I’m sure I’ll get a clear coherent answer, without being told to “ get over it”

It's the last big lie of the Brexit movement. Never mind that the real damage will be done when the transition period ends and Boris gets his 'blue passports and no foreigners' no-deal(or as near to it as makes no difference). For all the big talk of freedom and sovereignity(I give up, I can't spell it) we'll be far, far deeper in hock to far less benevolent and tolerant nations and blocs than the EU with much less say in our affairs and far fewer freedoms than we had before.

Never use a pub with a flat roof. A lesson for life, there. Couldn’t give a monkeys about tomorrow night, games gone now. I was more worried about the kids but their Irish passports are on the way now.

We are always 'in hock' to the United States, culturally and politically, inside or outside the EU. Whether it be Bush's poodle Blair, or Trump's poodle Johnson, or young people wanting to talk or be American, or letting them drive around our roads on the wrong side killing people. It's all to do with NATO, not the EU.

Only now, we won't have the world's largest trading bloc to back us up when they ask us to weaken employment rights, food safety standards, open up the public sector to privatisation, join in with illegal wars, extradite our criminals whilst they keep theirs over there, etc, etc like we do presently in order to facilitate trade without red tape and extra costs. Don't want to adopt another one do you? Would being older than you make a difference you think? I just saw this a little while ago too which pissed me off: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/brexit/brexit-uk-travellers-to-eu-face-end-of-fre

It's going to be a year of 'no Hurst/Lambert are better than Mick' only with actual real-life consequences. And arguments in favour about as nuanced. But The Football Will Be Better. [Post edited 30 Jan 2020 19:27]

Well that's down to us and the government we elect. We now set our own standards. Well, after the transition period. It remains to be seen how much of a poodle Johnson will be. So far we have not banished Huawei from our 5G network construction, to the chagrin of the American administration. [Post edited 30 Jan 2020 19:24]
