Another player who believed his own hype and has done nothing for the last 3 or 4 years, he'll be too old soon, already on the downside of the hill at 30

Yes but all those League 1 goals he has scored. He’d rip it up.

Ohh how we used to laugh and say League 1 goals didn’t count

I’m sure we’d take Messi and Ronaldo too, given the opportunity, but it’s never going to happen.

I wonder if this sort of deal works under a salary cap - £1m loan fee and pay no wages so doesn’t effect us whilst Wednesday cover £20k a week of their wage bill

Numbers purely for illustrative purposes

Would be frightening to think we could do that (and I've no doubt Rhodes would be fine here) but it feels like when Watford used to loan players for £2-3m and still not go up!

I think you'll find the last time he had a decent season was 3-4 seasons ago.
Sad really as Rhodes looked like he was going to make it up to the level of regular Prem player, but nope, not sure if it was just him believing in his own hype or also the money killed his appetite.

WTF does that even mean?

How has he believed his own hype?

What? Who's done better since leaving, Rhodes or Ipswich?

Hes a proven championship goalscorer.

Since leaving Blackburn.....

125 appearances, 23 goals. Less than 1 in 5 for an ‘out and out goal scorer’ without much else to his game.

£40k per week.

I thought this was an excellent article on Rhodes earlier this year especially has he lost his hunger/confidence?

No, I've not seen anything definitive on loan fees either. AN seems to be suggesting they'd have to settle his contract to facilitate a move, so assume he thinks it would be a free move. Still don't see we'd be able to offer him anything he'd consider - and I don't think we need another striker - and I'm sure Championship clubs would be interested if he was on a free.

He’s a one trick pony that you’d have to wrap the team around him . No thanks. He’s not a team player.

He also tweeted earlier that Sunderland were keen on Remi Matthews and that we would also take him. Despite us being in advanced talks with Cornell.

Agreed, I think loans offer a way around the salary cap.

If he's in the final year of his contract he might. Sheff Weds could pay up a significant amount of his final year (or prob 10 months) and he takes a lower salary with us.

Promotion bonus, and promotion pay increase included in contract.
