Best Five Players in League One 10:43 - Feb 8 with 3743 viewsPhilTWTD

As in previous years, FourFourTwo have asked us to help with their best five players feature.

They want the best five in the division this season ranked from first to fifth excluding players from Town. This can include a player who was transferred out of the division in January. Separately, they want us to name our own club's best player.

If posters name their top five, I'll collate the results and come up with a definitive top five next Monday when they want us to get back to them.

Ben Whiteman, Luke Jephcott, Jake Taylor, Siriki Dembele, Reece Burke.

Edit, im going to take out Brannagan as he hasn't played as much as i thought he had but when i've seen him he's been good.

Our player - Dozzell has been the best of a bad bunch of those who've played enough to be considered.

From what I've seen:

1) Jephcott at Plymouth
2) Whiteman at Doncaster
3) Swindon full back - sorry forgotten his name.
4) Dembele at P'boro
5) Kirk at Crewe

For us I suppose I'd go with Andre.

Ben Whiteman
Luke Jephcott
Dominic Thompson (if January loans count)
Harry Pickering
Siriki Dembele

For a Town player probably Dozzell. Like most players not played brilliantly all the time but has played consistently and been decent. Downes has looked the best but not played very much.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Haven't watched enough of the league this season so don't include my list in the final results but Harry Pickering and Luke Jephcott have impressed me. I thought Kal Naismith did well in a poor Wigan side on the opening day too.

I'll vote for Dozzell for our best best player this year, although nobody's been consistent throughout the whole season.

Ben Whiteman, Luke Jephcot, Reece Burke, Charlie Kirk, JCH
Ipswich- Andre Dozzel-

Dont think there really is one that stands out, but he's played pretty much every game and has been consistent for the most part. At the end of the season it will probably be Downes but can't go with him as he's just come back.

Much more challenging this year without being able to attend games. You may have a few names to throw into the mix too Phil having seen them ‘live’.

From what I’ve seen I’d go for-
1) Lewis Montsma
2) Harry Pickering
3) Luke Jephcott
4) Ronan Curtis
5) George Honeyman

Josh Emmanuel was up there for me too.

For us, I’d say Downes is our best player even if he’s not had much chance to show that this season due to injury.

Downes may we be out best player but you can't possibly say he is our best player this season....what has he actually done?

I'd say Teddy but that's not saying a lot in all honesty.

Phil, is there any way we can see how we rated players as, when an opposition player stood out I tend to rate them but I don't often remember who they were.

Our best player is probably still Edwards since he clearly was for the first quarter of the season and no one has done enough to displace him since.

Should be under your profile but doesn't seem to work. I'll have a word with Gav.

You could make a similar argument for Bishop?

He has been virtually anonymous in every game except a couple of moments vs Blackpool

Nothing lazier in football than thinking because someone it means that they played well

Which of our players has not been anonymous for the last 10 matches?

"Nothing lazier in football than thinking because someone it means that they played well" hmm. Interesting statement.

We all know you didn't rate Edwards even when he clearly was our best player but please give me the argument why Downes deserves it. Tell me who do you think does and I will tell you why Edwards is ahead of them.
