Season tracker 14:26 - Aug 17 with 1620 views | Bluefish | Is it agreed that we want 85 points this season? I'm not sure on the stats but I saw that number mentioned 86 points ÷ 46 games = 1.848 points per game 1 point ÷ 2 games = 0.5 points per game 85 points ÷ 44 remaining games = 1.909 points per game Early days but we don't want to let that number keep getting bigger BlAcKpOoL defied all the odds and all that

Setting 85 and finding out 2nd place has 90 is also odd.

Season tracker on 14:31 - Aug 17 with 1573 views | Steve_M | How many points do we get for playing 'the best football in years', that should help make up the deficit a bit? Less facetiously, far too soon to worry about being behind on a PPG basis but winning some games soon would definitely help.

Agreed (on both points) but it was seen as a recurring item hence a tracker

That is why you base it on history and points

What, like a running total kinda thing?

Season tracker on 14:57 - Aug 17 with 1463 views | itfcjoe | I think 85 points represents a minimum needed to come in the top 2, plus the sort of performance where if you do it and miss out in the play offs it shows you are a good side. That number can't creep far above up above 2ppg required. If after 10 games we haven't got 15 points you are starting to get in trouble - picking up less than 1.5 points per game even when gelling should be easily done with the qualty we have - means we need a couple of wins in the next 3 games as a minimum

I think move to 4 from 9 and then 7 from 12 by the end of this week will not only steady a few nerves on here, but allow us to pick a more settled side. I'd expect Burgess to make a big impact immediately in that regard. Once we're over that 50% mark it'd be great to see a steady run of 1-0's rather than blowing away one team and labouring too much against others.

Two wins from the next two matches would certainly do that.

Season tracker on 15:06 - Aug 17 with 1408 views | itfcsuth | 85 points would leave you in a good position, whether it would be enough for top 2 I don't, it may just fall short. When you look at the last 4 years since Paul Cook won the league with Wigan, the requirements have been: 20/21 Top 2 - 87pts Top 6 - 74 pts 19/20 - Covid Season Top 2 - 81pts Top 6 - 79 pts 18/19 Top 2 - 91pts Top 6 - 73pts 17/18 Top 2 - 96pts Top 6 - 71pts
Season tracker on 15:19 - Aug 17 with 1346 views | Nthsuffolkblue | This is correct. Going above a requirement of 2 points per game is a big ask, especially if that is over many games. Another way of looking at it is that we need around 29 wins. 29 wins out of 46 games is a win percentage of 63%. That has now become 66%. Fail to win tonight it would become 67.4% but a win brings it to 65%. No team is going to consistently win throughout the whole season, but there is no disputing that the longer we go without a win, the bigger the task ahead becomes. COYB - get that first win tonight and then build on it with a couple more in rapid succession. Let's get this season going!

It is actually the points for 3rd place that have to be bettered rather than matching what the team who finished 2nd did. For example, 89 points would have been enough for Barnsley in 18/19. I suspect we are generally looking at needing a minimum of 85 points but probably closer to 90. Assuming we draw roughly half of the games we fail to win, 26 wins should be enough.

But it's still only about 1 point per game required to avoid relegation, so not all bad news.

Looks a tough ask based on the current 0.33 considering we ve played Morecambe, Burton and Cheltenham
