The most depressing thing is that we're not doing any better than Lambert did but people still maintain that it's not failure to merely be 'as good as Lambert's side'.

Def info.

The fact people can actually make that argument, and believe it pretty much sums up where we're at right now, sad isn't it. No way we should be performing in a way that makes people pine for Lambert.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Yeah but Lambert was rubbish for ages, Cook has had 20 games (this season). Wonder if we will still be bang average after 46.

Hopefully not.

Lambert should probably have been sacked around this time in 2019/20 in fairness, instead we gave him a 5 year deal and wasted the next 14 months. Depressingly, we were closer to the promotion race at this point in 2019/20. Let's hope we don't end up regretting keeping Cook in charge in the same way.

What is it you're most enjoying about being a mid-table third division side?

For the third season running.

My guess is that if Lambert was managing this group, we'd be about 3rd, but we'd be terrible to watch, Celina and Fraser would be getting 10/15 minutes here and there when the game was safe.

And if he'd done the transfer business in the summer he wouldn't have signed about 12 creative players and no defensive midfielders.

Terrible to watch lol.

There's no difference in PC football to Lamberts so far.

Bothering to answer...

No, it's clear that the club is on the up. The new owners won't allow anything else long term.

But you all keep crying its not happening immediately

Do you base that certainty on relegation without a whimper or collapsing down league one two straight seasons after a fortuitous start before 23 other teams got going?

Because Cook has been awful here doesn’t make Lambert anything other than what he was. Desperately bad, just as he’s been everywhere other than the horrors up the road.

Under Lambert the rhetoric was: the football is ponderous; we don’t create enough clear cut chances; we haven’t got a 20-goal a season striker; we don’t get enough shots on target; the squad is bloated and unbalanced; he keeps changing the squad; too many ageing players on big wages who aren’t good enough; we’re not adventurous enough…

All of that has changed in one summer and yet there’s still moaning and now revisionism saying Lambert would do better or we’re still not as good as Lambert’s side! Everything we wanted to change has changed and we now have to wait for that to come good. Until then, can you do us all a favour and stop whining about what you haven’t got?

I'm sure our fanbase is pretty similar to most others. Surely the problem is that a decent proportion of us have never seen a decent ipswich team. Seeing some of the young ones talking about the glory years of the playoffs under mccarthy makes me sad. I was privileged to grow up watching burley's team develop. And i remember moaning about that team a fair bit at the time. Can we just try to enjoy winning and watching two goals like we did at the weekend?
