14,600 at Blackburn to see them move into the top two… 08:29 - Jan 25 with 2522 viewsunstableblue

… of the Championship and on an incredible run of form. What a paltry crowd. With a good away following from Boro to boot.

I know we’ve always had a bigger fan base than Blackburn.

But we got 20m plus for Accrington Stanley, with 150 away fans! And we are barely in a play off challenge yet.

Fans deserve to be out of this league!

Perhaps many of their tradtional fan base dont approve of being chicken farmers from a distant land?

The problem for the Lancashire town teams has always been how easy it is for folk to travel to Manchester and Liverpool.

Mind you that really is a poor Blackburn crowd.

I noticed that and was surprised. Thinking about it, Blackburn is not the biggest town (population of Blackburn borough is 150k) and is surrounded by a lot of competing clubs, so maybe the crowd isn’t so bad in relation to that.

I agree that our support is pretty amazing. Garbage for years yet 20k for a mid table L1 clash with the heathen of Accrington is some going. We deserve better!

Some years ago I had to go to Blackburn a couple of times with work. I hope as a place it’s improved!

Not really. Blackburn, in terms of population is smaller than Ipswich.

Leeds has a population of 700k but outside of the PL averages around 30k - that is much more pathetic in terms of population.

Indeed, and their crowds before Jack Walker's largesse were really small too.

It's a bit surprising that doing so well in the league hasn't seen bigger crowds but it was also a Monday night game on tv.

Blackburn has a tiny catchment area. And Ipswich has a whole county's media entirely devoted to it.

Exactly. Tiny place surrounded by much bigger cities and football clubs - no surprise that their crowds are small.

Good luck to them. I hope Mogga gets them up.

And Bournemouth 8.8k at home when they are 3rd, especially given the greater BCP area has a 400k population

Bournemouth's ground capacity is only 11,000, although you would argue that they don't exactly need a bigger ground.

I know, initially it was going to be a joke post as I was expecting to have seen a near full house but 8.8k is pathetic considering the size of the area and lack of competition for fans in the area
