Not sure Starmer has won that one, on 12:30 - Jan 26 with 1856 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Starmer definitely won. If Johnson just shouting about how great Brexit has been and criticising Lawyers is winning, then yes. But Starmer got the tone right imo, let him create his own mess. There are far more parties to come out, as well as pictures of him partying. He is toast.

Agree don’t think anything Starmer said will have hastened Johnson’s departure.

Not sure Starmer has won that one, on 12:46 - Jan 26 with 1711 views | XYZ | Yes, not his best week. Johnson's just cementing in his "I don't care; I'm not resigning whatever" stance. The Speaker's new approach to calling Johnson a liar in the chamber is of note. Six months ago that ginger-haired Labour MP would have been expelled for a day.

he did though, as most of the questions were just " will he resign". To which he could easliy just say " no... I'm going to continue to xxxxxx" Don't think Starmer was particularly bothered about winning this one. Given that the Gray report will do more to damage Johnson than PMQs ever does, all he was doing was trying to trap Johnson into either misleading parliament, or having to disclose the full report. To be honest, I think he should just have ignored partygate, and asked him about all the other problem areas. Fuel costs/ inflation etc.... because there was nothing really new to pin him down on with parties.

Completely agree. Johnson has tied his own laces together and is about to trip up. People disagreed with me on this last time but I think Starmer should have focused on wider government policy and those responsible for it since they'll be taking Johnson's place. Better to attack the whole govt than just the PM now, imo.

Not sure Starmer has won that one, on 13:03 - Jan 26 with 1596 views | MattinLondon | PMQ is a complete farce. Opposition leader asks a question and the reply has more deflections than a Jimmy Juan free-kick. Absolutely pointless. Sycophantic questions from his own side saying how great he is. A complete farce and waste of Parliamentary time.

In my eyes, when Johnson resorts to talking about the Success of Brexit and all his other mythical achievements, that is point to Starmer. That being said, PMQs isnt about politics its just who can shout the loudest. Especially with Lindsay Hoyle in the chair, who is probably the worst house speaker ever.

Starmer also knew Johnson couldn't respond now there is a criminal investigation. It was all theatre, but Johnson simply blustered about vaccines, Brexit and Ukraine. Johnson is finished.

PMQ has long been a near pointless exercise if holding the government to account is still its objective. It's a Punch & Judy name calling contest, which provides useful sound bites for the media, but generally the PM gets the better of it because he has the last word. I doubt it makes a huge difference to how people vote at elections, although Johnson is actually good at using simple slogans.

All the PM does is conjure up a few metaphors about fighting or war and insert them into some generic reply that pumps up his MPs. PMQs, as you mentioned, is pointless. The one who wins at PMQ is the one who gets more laughs with the real loser being democracy. [Post edited 26 Jan 2022 13:13]

Absolutely no point in wasting further energy on partygate time to move in to more pressing issues of which there are plenty. Why not ask if the cabinet has any intention of reviewing past decisions which, due to inflation, are going to get the pocket of the majority of workers and pensioners in a little over two months time. I believe most people are more concerned about these issues than partygate. Johnson is finished he can’t escape..

Was just saying to some very dear friends that if the Partygate route was the one to go down, can you imagine what a Blair or Cameron would've done to Johnson? Starmer doesn't have the style, aggression or humour to pull that off, imo. Blair would have killed him.

If Starmer persisted with this line of questioning in court the judge would be advising him to move on.

Not sure Starmer has won that one, on 13:36 - Jan 26 with 1349 views | HARRY10 | Starmer consistently fails to engage with Johnson. He must know what the bloated buffoon is going to rant about, when questioned Instead of repeating the points about the patties, he would be better addressing the overweight oafs claims "Fastest growing economy" A child will grow faster than any of us because it starts at a much lower based, much as with the economy. The UK is still lagging behind " more NHS staff than ever " really ? "Jobs" how many are part time, and wages are not keeping pace with inflation. One of the brexit boasts was that when out of the EU the UK could cut VAT. Yet here at a time when anything that reduces energy bills should be used, they back track I'm sure there are some who will have their faith in Mr Incompetent bolstered by hearing these wild claims. Time Starmer nailed them, instead of trying to nail and habitual liar. Deal with the message, not the messenger.
