When a domestic league title is devalued to the extent that the players can't go round the pitch with the trophy, you wonder what the point is

They might get away with it in the French league but you don't win Champions leagues carrying 3 players who don't want to run.

With that kind of "support" do they think they will keep Mbappe or attract other quality players. If that's the way you get treated as players for winning your domestic league then its hardly where the elite players want to be to have their egos massaged.

Yeah there is a bit more to it than OP suggested, at least for their ultras. https://www.theguardian.com/football/blog/2022/mar/15/pursuit-of-happiness-the-p

So that they can win nothing instead? If the super league ever happens I am sure fans will soon get bored of watching the same teams playing each other with no need to invest to avoid relegation (as there won't be any).

I think they're hoping they get what they "deserve" too. They're protesting about the fact that they're becoming the Harlem Globetrotters of football and losing their identity/soul as a club. It's a protest against the obscene commercialisation and commodification of a football club. It's a hard one, as unfortunately money talks and they're likely to end up not being as successful if they were less of a super-rich brand. And then some other fans would be complaining that they're not as successful any more! Good on them for wanting more of a community identity. It never hurts to remind mega-rich owners that they're only temporary custodians of the club - the fans and the club will still be here long after they've scuttled away (much as with us and Evans).

I posted too soon SB, before I read that article that was shared. I thought this was just throwing toys based on Champions League and it actually goes much deeper about the unhappiness of the fans. Sad they had to do it this way at the expense of thanking the players for winning the league but guess they needed to make the point in a way that's very visible to the owners and players.

I was quoting from the BBC site. "The club's ultras, annoyed by the club's Champions League exit to Real Madrid, started to leave the stadium 15 minutes before the final whistle rather than celebrate with the players. The ground was empty 10 minutes after full-time and the players did not do a lap of honour afterwards. "That's something I don't understand," midfielder Marco Verratti said. "I know that they were disappointed about Madrid, but at some point you have to move on." https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61202312 Apologies for not following good dissertation practise and quoting my references. Clearly whatever the Guardian report may say, there are players at PSG that see it as a reference to the Madrid result. [Post edited 26 Apr 2022 17:28]
