Just had a terrible flashback from Sundays away end 14:00 - Sep 28 with 4017 views | textbackup | A group were singing ‘Exeter are sht, but they’re better than you’ Things like that need stamping out of the game, no place for it. Alone with ‘how sht must you be, we’re winning on sky’ Two very unpleasant moments in a very decent away game, albeit the score

Just had a terrible flashback from Sundays away end on 14:42 - Sep 28 with 2893 views | DJR | Absolutely. I just don't understand why we bait the fans of teams in this division, none of which we have any rivalry with, and most of which are smaller than us in terms of crowds and traditions. Hate it when they target individual players as it just sets them up to celebrate in front of us, which winds me up enough already Apart from Norwich, and maybe a few others, just prefer to chant in support of team rather than the opposition!

Don't know if town fans do it. But the one where its "... get battered everywhere they go.... makes me laugh HT score.. that team is winning.

Just had a terrible flashback from Sundays away end on 15:36 - Sep 28 with 2673 views | TractorCam | I cringe when we're at places like Forest Green and Morecambe and "Champions of Europe, you'll never sing that" gets an airing, as if they actually care. I think we were 1-0 down at Wycombe last season and that got sung, that must have rattled some cages whilst they are beating us in the present!

That's alright imo when were 3/4-0 up, singing it 20 mins in when winning 1-0 is always asking for disaster
Just had a terrible flashback from Sundays away end on 15:53 - Sep 28 with 2584 views | C_HealyIsAPleasure | Don’t see the problem with the second one, obviously backfired but more gallows humour at our own ineptitude on TV than anything else First is embarrassing, see also x place is a sh*those as others have said, especially when in places that most would consider better than Ipswich!

Just had a terrible flashback from Sundays away end on 15:55 - Sep 28 with 2575 views | MattinLondon | I wouldn’t say that either were ‘very unpleasant’ but certainly silly and a tad pointless. To an extent a lot of chants are designed to get an reaction from the opposition. One of my favourites being from years ago when we were beating Sheffield Wednesday and coincided with Sheffield suffering from heavy rain ‘3-0 and your house is wet’.

The worst song there is in football. If you don't want to be at that place, then don't be there!

That's true, but in my day (in the 70s) it was aimed at large clubs with nasty fans such as Arsenal, Chelsea, West Ham, Man Utd, and it was a case of giving as good as you get. EDIT The song "In your Liverpool slums", set to a song by the Scaffold springs to mind, but I think it was also used against other teams. [Post edited 28 Sep 2022 16:26]

Strange take this Just because they sing THAT song, doesn't mean they don't want to in that place

That’s untrue. Same people (I think) sang plenty of pro town songs and others joined in

I was a tw.at when you get for different reasons, not singing drippy songs. (Die die delia aside) What I did find incredible was there was a young lad, maybe 20/22, in the pub after the game who was Plymouth born and bred, and his grandad followed town, so he sacked off going to games all his life with mates from Plymouth and was a huge town fan. He sat in the home end with his school mates (all Plymouth) and they bundled him on both goals. I think he said he might have posted on here actually

Just had a terrible flashback from Sundays away end on 17:33 - Sep 28 with 2136 views | ArnieM | OP: it’s surely juvenile Town fans that are singing this utter crap? Kids not handling their pink lemonade or cider perhaps? But it does give the remaining 99.9% of Town fans an undeserved “bad reputation” and frankly makes the Club’s fan base look like a bunch of morons. Maybe a bit self policing amongst Town fans is needed?

I have a feeling that a Plymouth Argyle fan posted something on this forum to the effect that our fans came across as arrogant, which is not something to be proud of. No doubt the sort of songs mentioned contribute to this. Perhaps this is something that the club could also seek to influence by email when they send out away tickets. [Post edited 28 Sep 2022 17:52]

Who cares what opposition fans think? It doesn’t matter - obviously I don’t mean any sort of violence etc but I’m not going to lose any sleep if some opposition fans think that we’re arrogant.
