Joe Lycett vs David Beckham 20:30 - Nov 15 with 2377 views | MattinLondon | Apologies if this has already been discussed - but I’ll be interested to know what TWTD thinks of Joe Lycett demanding that Beckham gives up his £10 million which he got for promoting Qatar? I think that Joe Lycett has a point and I would be surprised if Beckham’s reputation has stayed undamaged amongst the LGBTQ community - or indeed outside it as well. Not sure if Lycett comes across as a tad clumsy in his approach but I fully understand his sentiment and anger towards Beckham. https://www.itv.com/news/central/2022-11-14/joe-lycett-to-shred-10k-if-david-bec
Joe Lycett vs David Beckham on 20:36 - Nov 15 with 2323 views | J2BLUE | His money will get shredded. He'll get plenty of likes and well done comments. Nothing will change, I would be amazed if Beckham responds in any way.

Joe Lycett vs David Beckham on 20:43 - Nov 15 with 2297 views | Zx1988 | I think it's a good message, whichever way you look at it, and does a fantastic job of highlighting the hypocrisy of the likes of Beckham, Neville, et al. As far as the shredding money is concerned, I'd rather hope that he ends up shredding £10k of fake money and quietly donates the real £10k to a suitable charity/charities, but it's his money at the end of the day.

Beckham doesn’t have to reply and will simply hope that any fuss simply disappears - which probably will be what happens. Joe Lycett may well get plenty of likes but in the long term maybe his reputation will also suffer. Think he does some consumer show on which he takes the moral high ground on issues - I could well be completely unfair to the guy.

" I upvoted you for this. We have Children in Need on Friday and I hope that people like Joe will give their voice to this cause rather than some posturing about something that isn't going to achieve very much. The World Cup will go ahead, Beckham will trouser his cash and Lycett has the front pages for one day.

Joe Lycett vs David Beckham on 21:03 - Nov 15 with 2213 views | ArnoldMoorhen | It would be much better if he just took a massive dump on a picture of Beckham and encouraged others to do the same. Shredding £10,000 when people go without food at the moment is obscene. Beckham isn't "forcing" him to do that: it's his own stupid ultimatum. Just sh*t on a Shoot poster of Beckham, Joe.
Joe Lycett vs David Beckham on 21:43 - Nov 15 with 2069 views | Swansea_Blue | £10m quid?! I'm in the wrong line of business. I wish someone had warned me that posting crap on TWTD didn't pay well (although I know where to get some nice new Hankook tyres for my now slightly aging Audi).

As meanspirited as this might come across, the fact we have CIN at all is pretty horrendous isn't it? Let alone the optics of how they present some kids and tropes around child poverty etc whilst tax-dubious "celebrities" coerce money out of people. It sits really uncomfortably with me that we end up almost absolving the government from the responsibility etc. I find Lycett quite funny of late, but he's never going to get his message across eloquently and precisely when it is meant to be satirical and scathing either.

He's going after the low hanging fruit..... on 21:57 - Nov 15 with 2030 views | Bloots | ....Beckham is just a simpleton who chases the cash and probably doesn't even know where it comes from. Whilst stupidity is no excuse, I genuinely doubt he even knows what day of the week it is most of the time. Lycett should have gone after Neville, he's by far the biggest hypocrite. Constantly banging on about his perfect principles and championing social awareness whilst happily taking bags full of the Qatari Rial. The man is scum. [Post edited 15 Nov 2022 22:10]

'It is illegal to shred, destroy or deface money in the UK, however, Lycett said he will come off "more lightly" than if he were to be gay in Doha.' There is still a question mark over whether The KLF actually did burn a million quid on Jura back in 1994 so maybe an element of deflection would ensure Lycett avoids any punishment, still if he is accompanied by Gimpo and a flamethrower on Sunday I will watch that rather than Qatar v Ecuador: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K_Foundation_Burn_a_Million_Quid

Joe Lycett vs David Beckham on 10:13 - Nov 16 with 1463 views | giant_stow | There's a narrow line between social justice campaigning and attention seeking, I spose. I *think* he falls the right side of that line though and hope he doesn't shred real money, as if he did, how far removed would that be from burning a twenty quid note in a homeless person's face?

A few things... on 10:16 - Nov 16 with 1440 views | unstableblue | Lycett should never shred money at this dismal time in the UK economy; it should go to a charity/food bank But it is a brilliant and humoured way to call out people of influence supporting a regime that is way of touch, and must be called to account Beckham is not just a pundit, he is an ambassador for the Qatari state as I understand it, so its really not acceptable There is footage of I think a Danish TV crew not being allowed to film openly in the street in qatar last night - shocking

There's a very good film about this that I saw last year. Who Killed The KLF? Well worth a watch
