We never stopped playing our way....we didn't end up lumping it long. For once we have a manager that wants us to impose our football on the other team and make them worry about us.
The lads or KM didn't panic... we kept playing and moving the ball and it created that scoring opportunity to get the draw. Against 11 players camped around their box.
I love the fact KM isn't fazed when things don't quite go to plan and instills a confidence and structure where players can play with freedom in the knowledge that if a mistake is made they aren't going to get shafted and KM wants us to play this way regardless.

Agreed. As I said on another thread, it all felt a bit Lambert-ball tonight.
We are also seeing some very inconsistent performances. Ladapo, Burns and Harness all excellent against Oxford but very poor tonight and same for Aluko as well.

...our equaliser was due to three factors:
1. A hopeful long range punt.
2. A goalkeeper error.
3. A blind lino.
It wasn't due to patience or structure.
Maybe if we'd have taken more risks earlier we would have won, who knows. | |

A few did look a bit leggy so wonder if this illness was having more of an effect than people at the club would like to admit. Not saying it's the full excuse as there have been plenty of other times we've done this - have to say one criticism I have of Morsy is that he holds onto the ball far far far too long before releasing it on most occasions.
Bringing Jackson on against a team sitting deep to try and find a goal is a waste of time - shame Ahadme's been out as training him up to be a useful target man for these types of games would be a better option.
Actually think we miss TJJ a bit - imo he was getting very good at being that hybrid ST/CAM that made him difficult to pick up and always looked to play forward quickly.
Hope we've got 2 or 3 lined up to come in early January. |  |

That’s rubbish. The way we play has us second in the league. We’re not mid table and going nowhere. Perspective. Pompey, for all the pre match talk, are a decent team, playing at home. Our problem is (occasionally) at the back, defending high balls into the box, not when we are in possession or through a lack of scoring goals. The one thing we did wrong tonight was Davis weakly defending the cross for their goal, apart from that, we virtually completely controlled the game. People do narf get their nickers in a twist. |  |

But the occasional change of style would probably unsettle teams that sit in deep knowing that we will continue to try and pass it around them no matter what.

To be fair to Davis, he’s never going to win a header against Raggett is he? I think that you have to credit them for a well executed goal.
I’m still trying to understand how the ref gave them a foul for the first goal. If there was any foul, surely it was on Morsy who won the ball! |  |

Sort of agree, to a point. Clearly the way we play is delivering wins more often than not, and as long as we get the first goal (we usually do) then we're fine, but if a team gets a lead (or even just an equaliser!) to hold onto then we do tend to struggle to break them down.

Now, it isn't reasonable to expect to win every game, but we're (almost) good enough to be doing that, so just a little tweak in either personnel or approach could push us up another level. I think it is likely that it'll be new players rather than a dramatic change in tactics though. |  |

We’re the L1 equivalent of Spain. When we pass slowly with laboured sideways and backwards passes we are just allowing the opposition to get back into their defensive shape. When we pass with purpose and tempo we look a completely different side. | |

Had the talent to be able to score a worldie free kick
And went very deep in a very well organised defensive shape
And yet we score two, come back twice to secure a point, had 70% possession and had enough chances to win, 3 points we deserved
All in front of a hostile home ground.
